"Ban trade" is different than "own". We did ban slave trade before a lot of countries, 1807, but were one of the last to end it, 1865. He's playing word games.

I have no idea how these two idiots see reparations to the losers in a war. Reparation would have been far cheaper than the war and we wouldn't still have idiots waving their rebel flags 160 years later had we taken that path, but the war happened and the winning side ended slave ownership everywhere (except New Jersey).

It's really too bad that no one in Congress, North or South, wanted to end slavery through legislation, which would have required reparations. Brazil and Cuba are good examples of slavery ending due to economics before the end of that century
