Not really; one of the core concepts of Christianity is original sin. So that means we've all "fallen" "fell" "tripped" or otherwise run afoul. Take comfort.Mr.B wrote:fall, fell.....as in 'from favor with God'....geeze, y'all dumb.

Satanists are not in the same league as the Lord of the Flies himself.
I read that the proposed statue of Satan will also serve as a bench,
so the weary can rest and contemplate......whatever. Just watch out
for that pitchfork up the ass. Double ouch.

That's not what it says:Mr.B wrote:fall, fell.....as in 'from favor with God'....geeze, y'all dumb.
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.
The star literally fell from the sky, because you know... heaven was nothing more than what we call space now.
It's all kind of interesting actually since even "god" considers satan to be a bringer of light. Once again, it's like "god" is the one that wants to bring darkness.

Re: The Religion Thread
I admit it is a controversy in the Christian circle with some saying that it is, and some saying that it referred to the king. There are of course other verses that refer to the same being thrown out of heaven and hitting the earth like a lightning strike.Ombudsman wrote:Except that passage doesn't have anything to do with Satan.bannination wrote:That's not what it says:Mr.B wrote:fall, fell.....as in 'from favor with God'....geeze, y'all dumb.

They're planning a little lap dancing for people of all ages? Damn satanists must be a queer bunch. Figures.Vrede wrote:..."The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation."...

Re: The Religion Thread
The comments on the local OK news page suggested a giant Jesus statue be erected overlooking the satan statue. I'm not a religious person, but I think that would be bad-ass to have a bunch of giant Jesus/Satan statues in Oklahoma. It would be a boon to tourism for the good people of Oklahoma at the very least.
Maybe if the Satanists make their statue large enough, Christians will reciprocate with a giant Jesus statue that will put the Christ the Redeemer statue to shame. This is the USA for Christ's sake. We should have the biggest Jesus statue in the world, not shitty Rio de Janeiro.

At least the other thing wouldn't be as hard and sharp as a pitchfork.
Yeah, this isn't a done deal yet. If the Okies get rid of the Ten Commandments
due to the prospect of a statue of Satan, it will show that the old boy still
has his mojo working. Just can't win for losing.

Re: The Religion Thread
For anyone who believes in an actual (vs. a theoretical, hypothetical, or philosophical) Hell, and particularly Bible literalists, I have a question. Hell is generally described in the Bible as a place of fire and misery. Constant fire, weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth, yada. (quotes below)
But fire and teeth are physical - a person in Hell by definition is not physical because s/he's dead. As dead physically and as alive only in spirit just like the ones in Heaven. (Which btw also has physically-based descriptions)
So how does a spirit burn? And would the spirit still have gnashable teeth? And how can a physical fire affect a non-physical entity? And does the handbasket burn up on the way down like a rocket in re-entry?
Matthew 13:41–42
The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (NLT)
Matthew 13:50
... throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (NLT)
Revelation 20:15
And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. (NLT)

Re: The Religion Thread
In the OT the current word "Hell" was originally "Sheol" which is just an abode for the dead, all the dead. Only very select people went to Heaven in ancient Judaism, like Enoch and Elijah. There was no concept of Hell as modern day Christians describe it. In the NT it comes from two words, "Hades," the Greek version of hell which was a dark gloomy place and "Gehenna," which was a valley near Jerusalem where human sacrifices were burned. The references to Hell in the current translations which reference fire are translated from the latter. The Baptist version of Hell is no more Biblically based than the belief that Satan was once named Lucifer and that he fell from Heaven.

Well there's your problem. God still using a Book? He needs to upgrade that system to a proper database. Maybe access it through a nice tablet or something.... I mean could you imagine the line and the waiting? The DMV would be heaven in comparison.O Really wrote:
