OK, so I was never a big Tiger Woods fan. I happily acknowledge his abilities and the great impact he had on pro golf, but I just never like him. But he's mellowed out somewhat and not so ubiquitous in every golf article, so all is well. The tournament he sponsors ("Genesis") couldn't be held in LA this year because the golf course (Pacific Palisades) isn't there, so they moved it to Torrey Pines here. The annual tournament at Torrey Pines was just a couple of weeks ago, so it's another big tournament coming through pretty quickly. Maybe they wanted to boost tickets, but they've been saying "Tiger's gonna play", thinking I suppose that that will assure tickets get sold.

But today, Tiger says he's "still processing" his mother's death last week and won't be prepared to play even though he'll "attend" later in the week. Makes sense, right. Tiger was very close to his Mom, and it's a sad event. So you bought a ticket to see Tiger play one more time or maybe for a first time and now he's not showing up, but you've always followed Tiger and you'll sympathize during his period of grieving. Right?

Well what if you find out that he put that grieving aside for a while on Sunday to play a round of golf with Trump? Still sympathetic or do you feel used? Would it be overly cynical of me to suspect they floated the "Tiger's gonna play" story just to boost sales, knowing he wasn't coming? Or would it be overly cynical of me to think if Tiger can play golf with Trump he could play in his own tournament for his own charity if he was willing to put in a little effort and wasn't afraid of missing the cut badly?

Back to being "no a fan" again.

I’m also not a Tiger Woods fan, and I agree with you about Tiger not playing in his own event but still finding time to golf with Trump.

I cancel him for golfing with DonOLD regardless of his dishonestly exploiting the memory of his dead Mom and disrespectfully blowing off his own charity.

Yeah, it's so unlikely that Tiger would have an opportunity to play a round with trump.🙄

After all, Tiger lives in Florida and DonOld rarely comes down that way to get a round or two in.

Q: What do Tiger Woods and Donald Trump have in common?

A: They both played more than 18 ho’s.

Of course you do.
Your patronizing, tween-level mewl is a complete whiff. MAGAts and others in racist DonOLD's social circle have earned every gram of condemnation that can be heaped upon them.

Hang 'em up Tiger. There's nothing to be gained.

Yeah, he needs to give it up. I freely acknowledge he's the best as golfers go, but I was never much of a fan, even before he was known as a floozie philandering cheater. And if I had been a fan, I probably could have forgiven a dalliance or so, but even though he may have gotten better with age, he was apparently a real sleaze bag there for a while.

If he stayed on path and stayed healthy, he could have surpassed Jack Nicklaus as the all-time Majors winner. Now, it’ll always be “What if…?”

You blame Tiger for the injuries that hampered his career, or do you mean the good will and endorsement opportunities that he pissed away by being so cruddy?

He seems to have rehabilitated his image significantly. His endorsement deals are still astronomical.

That being said, he impacted the game of golf like no other. He brought new fans and players to the game and with that came a lot of money. Case in point, Russell Henley just won $4M last week. This injury could very likely be career ending.

Both actually.

Him pissing away goodwill is well documented but he also way overtrained and didn't train properly for golf. He was far to chiseled (can you think of another golfer with a football players body?). He trained and cosplayed with the navy seals for years and did himself great harm.

Woods started going to the group's training facilities and would do exercises with them, including skydiving, combat scenarios, and practice raids.

Lots more, he wasn't well loved.

No he hasn't and his sponsors have dropped him. Nike dumped him last year.

He's worth over a billion. He won't go hungry.

Ah, I didn't know all that about his physical training. Thanks.
