I still want to add the costs of flights to Mar-a-lago, but that'll be another day.

The candidate who used to hammer Barack Obama for golfing too much is on track to play two and a half times as much as his predecessor and at three times the cost to taxpayers.
From the video: "It's 255 times the annual presidential salary Trump offered to forgo."

I'm staying logged in. This happened to me last Winter:
This was going on in June, but I think banni fixed it:Vrede too wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 6:12 amhttp://www.blueridgedebate.com/forum/vi ... cut#p91719As I mentioned awhile ago I've had to login anew since 12/1. This post of yours gave me a flash of inspiration. My Firefox shortcut was http://blueridgedebate.com/forum . I just changed it to http://www.blueridgedebate.com/forum/ , with the 'www" - no more logging in. I see that my actual bookmark has always had the 'www'. Either it got dropped from the Firefox shortcut during a Firefox update (no telling when) and/or your tinkering made the inexact url stop working. Weird, huh?bannination wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 12:07 amI found at least two domains copying all content from this website.
Always make sure the url bar has www.blueridgedebate.com before logging in to help protect your account. They also can't copy the Trump tweets in the title, it can be a hint you're hitting the wrong site if those aren't populating.
I'm working with the domain registrars to get them taken offline.
Stay safe!

Thanks for letting me know, I'll look into it -- nothing to worry about though it's not hax. I'm curious if it's happening to anyone else too as I can't reproduce, I may just kill that subdomain.
My shortcut is https://www.blueridgedebate.com/ and it takes me to https://www.blueridgedebate.com/forum/ , the Board index page.
If I went to blueridgedebate.com I was also directed to a "wallabag" homepage with login fields. Now, I go to the Board index page, but am not logged in.

Bummer, thought that first one might be it. You can also check your cookie security settings. They sometimes change during browser updates.
Then PM banni, he's not monitoring this topic.

I haven't had to re-log in a long time.
Maybe some privacy browser extension is erasing the cookies that keep the session?
Using in-private browsing all the time?
I dunno, couple ideas.

I've had to re-log in maybe 4 times in recent weeks. Not a problem and not why I'm posting today.bannination wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 2:00 pmI haven't had to re-log in a long time.

Limey joining made me think that perhaps Just the Facts & Not the Alternative Facts could use an explanatory sentence on the Index page, something like:
A subforum intended to attract people searching select topics online, and also to provide useful data for online debates.
I'm not at all wedded to that wording.
Also, I like the new idea of the news scroll in the banner, and I think the NYT is great. However, one has to join or clear cookies after just one article viewed. WaPo is even worse, it hates Ad Blocking. Maybe NPR, BBC, Democracy Now!, Vox, Common Dreams or HuffPost instead?

It's going to depend on which news sites have RSS feeds, so far I've found feeds for CNN and The Guardian. NPR I could find no feeds, and BBC I can't limit it to political type news. (So Far).Vrede too wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 3:05 pmI've had to re-log in maybe 4 times in recent weeks. After spending a couple hours developing the solution this morning I was comfortable with a first release as a proof of concept.
(Thanks for the feedback!)
I see the next versions having these additional features:
Display from more news sources: (NyTimes, BBC, etc.)
Find a better location for it, not sure it belongs in the header, or at least it needs better separation.
Randomize the news sources, we don't want 10 NY Times articles in a row.
Display a date and time of the article.
Caching results from their servers to prevent hitting their endpoints too much.

Thanks for always tweaking!

Where else besides the banner would make it worth having?

Makes sense.

Needed or just clutter? I assume the feeds are current.

They don't loop? Weird.
Cool. Is the last sentence a little harsh? Makes it sound like it'll be monitored and enforced, and there has been some discussion. Perhaps: Not intended as a place for discussion.Just the Facts & Not the Alternative Facts
A place to find quick links to facts that support reality. Good for ending debates quickly, especially repeated debates.
Not a place for discussion.

Vrede too wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 4:04 pmThey do loop, it works by downloading ~10 stories at once, the problem is that on every page load, and every user it goes back to say NY Times to load those 10 stories again. Everything custom is cached to an extent, like Trump tweets. Twitter gives you so many times you can call their API per time period. They can ban you if you call it too many times. BRD works by only going to twitter say once every 10 minutes no matter how many times the page is loaded. The Trump golf stuff is ran by a really nice lady out of the money from her own pocket and was gracious enough to share her API with me, so I hit it as little as possible so I don't add to her server load. That's probably way more information than you cared about.bannination wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 3:51 pmIt's going to depend on which news sites have RSS feeds, so far I've found feeds for CNN and The Guardian.

Sure does: https://www.theguardian.com/us/rss doesn't look like I can limit it to political type stories, but, meh, probably good enough.

Haven't thought that far ahead, maybe after the header but before the topics. I'm just not happy with it.

IMO nonpolitical content is fine as long as there isn't too much fashion, relationships and cooking. I like human interest, humor, weird news, etc.

IF you change to multiple feeds and IF space is limited, I would rather see the source than the date and time.

I withdraw my request. I'm not paying attention to the source. Plus, it alternates between taking up one line or two, which makes the page bounce. If you like it, no biggie. I can just zoom out to reduce the flipping, but would rather not if no one else cares.

If you're not seeing it, zoom in so that sometimes it takes up 2 lines or zoom out so that sometimes it just takes up 1 line.
