Other than the expected pontificating by politicians expounding on this ruling, it has been met with a yawn . The media had gone overboard embellishing the the ruling. The markets even went up on Friday. Trump wasted another opportunity to address the issue with humility.

You think the right were going to have peaceful protests while carrying semiautomatic weapons?

"Trump...humility"
Two words rarely in the same sentence, and certainly with no expectation that Trump would ever in this lifetime express any.

Of course the "markets even went up". Dementia Don's tariffs are widely seen as a drag on the US and world economies.
Did you ever wonder what you'd have done during the rise of fascism? You're doing it right now.

Time will tell, but the Mamdani experiment might be a wake up call for our country. Over the next months we will see why socialism does not work. It will take some time for the media to fully cover the train wreck.

Thanks. That's a reasonable working definition. The thing is, however, that practically any "ism" is more of a scale or spectrum than it is an absolute. So when I hear a comment like "socialism does not work" without any context, it makes me wonder what the person thinks socialism is.

Mamdani is not a dictator like Dozy Don is trying to be. He will be constrained by on the ground realities, the mostly non-Democratic Socialist NYC Council, the courts, and the most powerful business sector on the planet. He will surely govern by persuasion rather than fiat.O Really wrote: ↑Sun Feb 22, 2026 11:19 amThanks. That's a reasonable working definition. In contrast, we are seeing DonOLD imposing Big Brother (socialist) policies In a variety of sectors, unfettered by a complicit Congress, a mostly weak and obedient SCOTUS, and an avaricious billionaire boys club that makes up his oligarchy. All of this is backed by an uber-partial FBI and the ultra violence of ICE. This is where we see whether undemocratic socialism will "work" or not, as the MAGA Cult continues its relentless but now diminishing cheerleading.

Socialism doesn't work and is a train wreck.....is the US military a train wreck? It's truly a socialist entity. Every cop, fireman, and public school teacher is a socialist worker. You'd think that if the entire foundation of a system is a train wreck there'd be some evidence of it. You got any/.supesalemgr2 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 22, 2026 11:08 amIt is a deep philosophy, but essentially it is major governmental controls over individuals and the economy. What would YOU call a system in which your clothes, schooling, housing, meals, medical care, and transportation are either free or subsidized?supesalemgr2 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 23, 2026 8:04 amIf you choose to believe our military is socialist - have at it.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Mon Feb 23, 2026 7:39 amSocialism doesn't work and is a train wreck.....is the US military a train wreck? And on top of all that, it's a system in which you are no longer covered by the US Constitution, but an entirely separate legal framework. Sure sounds like more of a socialist setup than a capitalist one to me. The only capitalism in the military is the sale of military equipment to the government by defense contractors.
If you had ever been in the military you'd easily recognize that it's a fundamentally socialist setup. The system itself is socialist; its participants agree by contract to serve that system and they can choose whether they continue to serve it or not. Unless they're kicked out of the system for cause or in the case of officers, resign.
