Most fun in a MM in years. My only remaining dogs in the fight are doing pretty good, and I've loved the little guys taking down the #1's.
Local sports guys are moon-barking over Creighton being favored despite Aztecs seeded higher and having just knocked down Bammer.

Creighton -2 or -2.5, pretty tight.

Men's

6:09 PM, TBS, NYC
GO 9 Florida Atlantic (34-3) > 3 Kansas State (26-9) -2.0 narrow spread
THE remaining Cinderella.
Half: Florida Atlantic 42, Kansas State 38. Do you believe?
Final: Florida Atlantic 79 > Kansas State 76. Exciting to the end. First ever Final Four.
:happy-cheerleaderkid:
GO FAU > Gonzaga or UConn.

8:49 PM, TBS, Las Vegas
3 Gonzaga (31-5) vs 4 UConn (28-8) -2.5. Go MM.
UConn 82 > Gonzaga 54. Whoa, Vegas will notice that. Good luck, FAU.

Neither of these games help my bracket. A Texas win tomorrow is my last and final hope for any points.
I'm 31/58 in the bracket.
The leader is 45/58 and he and a bunch of others got both! games correct today. How???!!!
My rank barely dropped from #563,547 to #565,594. I guess most others are played out, hah.

Will your underdogs go 3-0 today or a depressing 0-3?
'The U' isn't just football: Miami men's and women's basketball are in the Elite 8

... While their teams' runs to the Elite Eight might feel improbable considering where they were seeded headed into the tournament (the men at No. 5, the women at No. 9), Larranaga and Meier (coaches) have worked hard to earn this moment at a school that does not get nearly the same attention as others within the ACC.

Larranaga has been here before, of course, taking the men to the Elite Eight a season ago -- a first in program history. Now this year, Meier has led the women to their first Elite Eight in program history.
That they are here together is worth celebrating and embracing, despite being some 900 miles apart at their respective tournament sites in Greenville, South Carolina, and Kansas City, Missouri.
Are there hardcore fans doing that travel this weekend?

Next weekend:
Men's Final Four in Houston.
Women's Final Four in Dallas.
239 Interstate miles, doable.
... ACC commissioner Jim Phillips noted the way Miami has represented itself despite perhaps not having the tradition of some of the blue-blood brands like Duke and North Carolina that define the way ACC basketball is viewed. Miami has been in the ACC only since 2004, but it has done more than hold its own in waving the conference flag.
Miami IS the ACC in both the Men's and Women's brackets now. :-||
... Indeed, both teams have become NCAA tournament mainstays. In her 18 years at Miami, Meier has made the NCAA tournament 10 times. In his 12 seasons, Larranaga has led Miami to the tournament six times -- including those two Elite Eights and two other Sweet 16 runs.

This year, not only did they both make it to the Elite Eight but they both beat a No. 1 seed. Larranaga specifically mentioned the women beating No. 1 seed Indiana, on the road in the second round, during his postgame comments Friday.
The men beat overall No. 1 Houston.

At least one plane load did both:
... Miami athletic director Dan Radakovich was there to see both games Friday -- taking a private jet from Greenville after the Hurricanes' 70-65 win over Villanova to make it to Kansas City to watch the 89-75 win over Houston....

How the Miami women got here ...

How the Miami men got here ...

Women's

7:00 PM, ESPN, Greenville, SC
GO 9 Miami (22-12) > 3 LSU (31-2) -9.5 (ouch)
I picked Miami to lose in the Sweet 16 and LSU to win this game, but wth GoO ReallyGo.

9:00 PM, ESPN, Seattle
Go 5 Louisville (26-11) > 2 Iowa (29-6) -5.5
I don't really care, so I'm rooting for the underdog. It was supposed to be #1 Stanford winning this game. :(

5:05 PM, CBS, Kansas City, MO
Go 5 Miami (28-7) > 2 Texas (29-8) -3.5
I picked Miami to lose in the Sweet 16 and Texas to score my final bracket points by winning this game, but wth GoO ReallyGo.

:D

That was more than $5 worth of entertainment. There was a mid-2nd stretch there where SDSU just couldn't get a shot to drop, hard to watch. The FG% was down below 30%, but it got better late in the 2nd. Luckily, Creighton wasn't shooting much better.
Final Field Goal %: 40.0 Creighton, 37.9 SDSU.

Final Four, Baby! Congrats.

Yeah, but how many of them are also Miami fans? Holy crap, down 13 in the 2nd vs Texas would seem to be all over. Nope. O Really has a 50% chance of winning it all, 75% if he's also an FAU fan.

CONGRATS!!! 1st ever Final Four.

#s 1, 2, & 3 all gone  . #4 UConn is the highest remaining seed. They're ALL Cinderellas at the ball.

Miami's Jordan Miller 7-7 FG, 13-13 FT. Only Duke's Christian Laettner has done that - I think in MM, I didn't catch the parameter. 27 points to lead both teams.

Canes!
Could theoretically be a Canes/Aztecs final.

Howza about them apples for all the experts that picked UNC #1 back at the start and had Bammer a consensus pick at the first of March? Take yer quadrants and abacus ratings and blow 'em right out your asses.

GO Canes > Huskies
Hmmm, I MIGHT root for 9 FAU > 5 SDSU.There's something about the most Cinder of the Ellas. Otoh, SDSU beat AL, so there's that.

Oh well, the seeding has been better with the Women.
0-2 today.
1/2 in the bracket though, LSU. I had 1 Stanford winning the other game, but it lost in Round 2.
38/58 overall. The leader is 48/58 and a bunch of people got both Sun games correct.
Nevertheless, my rank jumped from #331,741 to #259,766.
GO TERPS and Ohio St.

2 for 2, nice. 3 for 3 in the Final Four.
I'm 31/60 in the bracket, 0/4 in the Elite 8. The leader is 47/70 and s/he and many others went 3/4 in the Elite 8. :-||

I doubt it. I think most everyone that could pass me already did so in the  Elite 8. Some of them will pull further ahead, but the rest of us have busted brackets.

It's too bad "Monty" was forced to retire. Would have been great to see him leading the team out in the Final Four.
