Bastard, eh?O Really wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2019 9:46 amFrom Hamilton Spectator, article regarding Manziel's time with the Tiger-Cats:
"There is a lot of conjecture about what Manziel did — it's probably more what he didn't do — to warrant his expulsion from the league. Some of the talk wonders if he chose not to abide by his agreement with the CFL (to take counselling and certain medication) in order to secure his contractual freedom.
Now that he has actually thrown passes in real games for the first time in three years, opportunities in the form of the AAF and the looming XFL should create some kind of bidding war for his services, if only for the publicity he would bring either NFL-shadowed league"
As predicted, he then played briefly in the doomed Alliance of American Football and then also briefly in the Fan Controlled Football, an indoor American football league.... Manziel was slated to compete with Pipkin and Vernon Adams for the starting role in 2019, but on February 27 it was revealed that the (Montreal) Alouettes released him on orders from the CFL after league officials determined that he had "contravened" the terms of his CFL contract. The CFL also barred him from signing with any other CFL team. Manziel had previously revealed that as part of his agreement with the league, he was required to see a doctor, attend weekly sessions with a therapist, and submit to weekly lithium tests. According to veteran CFL journalist Justin Dunk, the league decided to cut ties with Manziel after he missed a number of mandatory meetings.
It looks like 31 year old Manziel may have retired for good after the 2022 season. His post-college career statistics are entirely unimpressive.
