Feb. 29 should be a date on the calendar every year and Oct. 31 the leap year day. Then we would only have to put up with this stupid stuff every four years.

Seems as though no one diagrees with the message of the video, Wneglia; either that, or they're scrambling to find something on the Internet to post as a counter. Good job!

Nah ... sometimes we all realize the idiocy of the comparison to taxation in the vid (compared to candy) and a rebuttal would be a fruitless endeavor as an attempt to convince the 'wingers the entire vid is a bunch of crap intended only to get the 'winger's dander up.scooter wrote:Seems as though no one diagrees with the message of the video, Wneglia; either that, or they're scrambling to find something on the Internet to post as a counter. I find it even odder that a grown man in a costume was taking candy from children.
Just sayin' ...

The cuteness of the presentation almost cancels out the juvenility of the theory. Almost.
Yeah, when the guy asks one of the kids if he'd like to lick his lollipop it will be time for the
cops to move in.

Liberals have always supported "robin Hood" economics.
When everyone is paying some then I'll discuss who is not paying their fair share.
Until then those receiving an "earned income credit" are the ones not paying their fair share.
Pass the "FairTax"

What are you giving out old grape juice?Vrede wrote:"Keep what they earned"? The little parasites all got what they got from people with even more candy just by wearing a costume "built" by their parents, or child labor in Bangladesh.
If they were all actors, there is no point re real kids.
If it was real kids being used and upset for an idiotic comparison, that's the scariest thing of all.

This is a fair comparison to tax strategies. -- take from those who have and give to those who have not. I'd like to hear someone's contrary analysis of this.

And I still probably paid more in taxes at that just over the decade I owned and operated one of my more successful businesses. Your Jealousy of the working class is showing thru again Vrede. Now go back to collecting your food stamps and leave us working class folk alone.
Here don't feel left out.

I don't know how Vrede arrived at his numbers, but it costs $7632 per year in Henderson county to educate a student. Assuming the cost is constant K-12, this is an expenditure of $99,216 per child. Multiply this by the number of children in your family finishing high school and you will get the total. Obviously you pay for some of this with your own taxes, and I guess in theory, this should be subtrracted from the total to see whether or not you are being subsidized by other taxpayers.

Re: HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Ok, how much did the children pay for their candy? I think you are comparing apples to oranges. The candy was free all they had to do is hold their hand out and candy was placed in their bags. In addition, what about the child who is handicapped in some way, they are unable to walk and get their free candy. Would you ask your child who recieved free candy to share? I would hope I had raised my child to share without being ask to. This video to me doesnt measure up to what you are asking us to believe.

I think I'll give out condoms and birth control pills if any kids come by my place. I can't afford to put anyone else through school.

Again Vred lie as usual. Here is my quote.
Either way you are still wrong, go figure right.
I mentioned in the other forum way back that there were years I am sure I paid more in taxes then you made. Now stop with the Jealousy crap will ya man.
It was not a statement of fact. Lie a little more Vred. And the last I heard even here in NC it only cost about $6500.00 per yr. to educate a kid, you do the math.

Vrede wrote:I disagree with your theorizing. Assuming that Colonel Taylor and I are/have been in the same middle class tax bracket, that's $99,216, $198,432, $297,648, whatever, that he sucked up that I did not, all because he couldn't be responsible for his own sexual activity. Remember, I paid for the wars that he once supported and I never did. You can't say, "should be subtrracted from the total". We don't individually pick what our taxes are applied to.Wneglia wrote:I don't know how Vrede arrived at his numbers,
:?: I linked it, a statewide average of $142,027 in response to Colonel Taylor's erroneous claim of a statewide average of "$6500.00 per yr." ($84,500 K-12).
but it costs $7632 per year in Henderson county to educate a student. Assuming the cost is constant K-12, this is an expenditure of $99,216 per child.
Accepted, thanks. Note that Colonel Taylor's claim is a whopping 30% short of the statewide average and is 15% shy of the Henderson County cost.

Re: HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Take it easy on the Colonel - if he paid on average $1,500/year in property tax, then he only got $88,216 in handouts for one kid. Of course, the other kid, if any, went totally on the dole.Vrede wrote:So, how many kids is it that I paid for at $99,216 per child because you couldn't keep your pants zipped or take responsibility for your own actions?[/color]

The difference ($38,469) is the cost of a super deluxe 4 wheel drive pickup truck.Vrede wrote:Correction:
Wneglia's link, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, claims $103,558 per K-12 child statewide average. Adjust the math above accordingly.
My link, the Civitas Institute, claims $142,027 per K-12 child statewide average.
I don't know the reason for the wide discrepancy. Either way, Colonel Taylor's $84,500 guess because he was too lazy to look was well off the mark.
