I doubt it would work, and can't find any reference to the method other than that one vid. Why don't you try it and let us know.

Well, what I know about electricity is that it comes from a switch. But seems like there would be more out there about that "fix" if it worked, and the cable people would know about it and make it unworkable. Just thinking.

Re: Do you have Cable Television?
Let's watch....Seth Milner wrote:Do you have cable TV? I saw this video on YT, looks interesting.
The premise of come channels being amplified and not others applied to *some* old cable systems. Thought often it wasn't the cable box being told what to filter. The signal was sent full strength through the network, and filters out at the pole or streel-level distribution box filtered out channels.
More "modern" analog systems - in use from the late '80s onward - actively scrambled the signal. There were many ways this was done. In *some* versions of this, suppressing the horizontal and vertical synch signals - there were claims that by adding an inductor to the cable you could get the signal to stabilize. But it never worked for most people because, again, there were many different scrambling systems.
Today most North American cable systems are digital, with encryption and compression handled by the DigiCipher 2 format. It has nothing to do with amplifying the signal; the cable company remotely tells your cable box which channels can be decrypted. The original signal - even non-encrypted - never gets through to your TV, because it not in a format your TV can use. Pass it through and amplify it, and your TV still can't use it.
So no, adding an inductor won't work in the age of digital cable, and VERY rarely worked with analog cable.
Also, his premise that inductors will amplify a signal is pure rubbish. Inductors don't do that.
Also, the only metal in a CD is aluminium. It's nonmagnetic, so not an inductor.

Other videos from the same guy:
- Double your phone storage for free. By temporarily wrapping it in a towel with a couple AA batteries and putting it in a pan.
- Instantly charge your phone. By wrapping it in tinfoil when you charge it.
- Double your CPU speed for free. How to get an Xbox One S for free. Tripple your WiFi speed for free. Etc. Etc. Etc.
It's a practical joke channel.

You'll have to forgive me. I forgot that only serious, non-humorous, spiel is to be posted in these forums. My bad.rstrong wrote:The classic Seth Milner "when I posted that goddamned stupid thing I was only joking" response.
Essentially, what you're saying is, that "unless you're an asshole, keep humor to yourself". Got it; carry on.

You were serious when you posted it. But OK, you were actually joking if that's what you desperately want people to believe. Sure.Seth Milner wrote:You'll have to forgive me. I'm betting you have a sign in your yard advertising your palm-reading business as well?
If I apologize profusely for all my comments to you, past and present, will you tell me the next winning Powerball numbers? I'll share.

Because you're looking in a mirror when you spew those names; those labels fit you to a tee because they can be applied both ways.
Sorry.
You got that shit right.

Spoon-fed Tea Party wingnuttery, you don't think anyone else is capable of independent thought or conclusions either.Seth Milner wrote:You're doing a great job of parroting your hero. You must sorely miss him.

You're a fine one to accuse someone of being spoon-fed. If it weren't for your dance partner, you'd be an illiterate mute.
