AGT

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

If you were, say 20ish years old, then on the surface a base annual payout of $25K might seem comfortable, but over 40 years the inflation would likely eat it down to not much. On the other hand, if you took the $300k, paid taxes and put $200,000 into some investment that could get you 5% over the 40 years (an S&P index fund, for example), you'd have about a mill and a half. Of course, the mill and a half wouldn't be worth as much then, either but at least you'd get the nominal amount you won.

WTF, an annuity? Rip off city. On Survivor they get the big check.

America's Got Talent' Winner Brandon Leake Will Not Receive $1 Million
Saw that, considered posting it.

It's apparently not a secret to contestants. But, it is somewhat deceptive to we viewers.

The 2017 winner, 15 year old ventriloquist Darci Lynne, already has a net worth of $3 to 5 million. So, I’m not too outraged.

America's Got Talent (season 16)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America%2 ... ason_16%29

Auditions, 2nd night, ones I liked in the order they appeared. There were many more that the audience and/or judges liked. Rerun Sat night.

Early Release: Beyond Belief Dance Company Surprises The Judges - America's Got Talent 2021

They had me at drag queen in Mesquite, TX, let alone that the young girls he coaches are really good. Will one or more turn out to be a boy?

UniCircle Flow: Amazing Cyclists From Japan Show Simon How To Cycle Without Getting Injured!

We've all see unicycle tricks before, but I don't recall ever seeing a unicycle dance group. This was just 4 of them, they may bring all 12 at some point.
Johnny Showcase Performs Hilarious Original, "Sensual" - America's Got Talent 2021

 :!:

Early Release: Les Beaux Frères SHOCKS The Judges - America's Got Talent 2021

Naked dance. :o  :!:

Comedian Gina Brillon Will Make You Laugh with This Funny Stand-Up - America's Got Talent 2021

I'm not much of a stand-up fan, but she's brilliant.

All advanced with 4 'Yes' votes.

Auditions, 3rd night, ones I liked in the order they appeared. There were many more that the audience and/or judges liked. Rerun Sat night. Singer heavy, ugh, and only an hour long. Idk why for either.

OLD (31, 23, 31 if I recall correctly) "Boyband" has an interesting sound:

T.3: Boyband SHOCKS Everyone with Their HUGE Voices!

Kabir Singh: Comedian Has Heidi Klum Wondeing If She's ALLOWED To Laugh Out Loud!😂

Serial killers are  .

Don't watch AGT, can't remember ever watching it.

But if I'm not mistaken the parcelling out of the "prize money" is not unusual in such ... scams.

On an unrelated note, California is handing out $1.5 million awards to like 10 residents who got the jab. Still waiting for that phone call. Another 30 are getting $50k. Bleh.

I like some of the talented Americans. Idk if the judging and voting are fully legit or not.

It's hardly a "scam" if contestants are fully aware of the prize terms going in. Plus, I THINK the winners make more from their Vegas run and other deals and endorsements than the $1M, anyhow. 16 year old Darci Lynne, for example, is already worth $8 Million.

I believe that you were in such a hurry to get poked that you were never eligible for California's vaccine lottery. Most expensive commute to SF ever. :P

I don't think it's so much of a scam with regard to the performers. They probably get a full disclosure of what they're getting in to. I think it's more like the rest of the "reality shows" where there is considerably more "show" than "reality." On the other hand, if it's entertaining, what does it matter how staged or spontaneous it is? I'm pretty sure fans of professional ummmm, "wrestling" enjoy their events as much as fans of actual unscripted events like Nascar...oh, wait.

Actually, I'm informed that it doesn't matter when one got vaccinated; everyone who is on record of such (as I am) will be entered in the "contest". Bearing in mind that the odds of winning are exceedingly slim. Something like 1 in a million. Still, I'm not giving up hope.

As for the commute to SF to get the jab... well worth it.

I've considered taking my neo hominy one man band act to AGT but I just don't think they're ready for it. I do the 1812 Overture, Beethoven's Pastorale, and the feature number is The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Nah, I'd consider it more of something like ptomaine poisoning.

Well, demonstrating your farts for fun and profit would take a lot longer than food poisoning. I guess it would depend on what your goal is: to live well, or die quick.
