In Memoriam

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

So long to that asshole. Here's a better one. Oldest CA state worker dies after 80 years of service. She died late last month; would have been 103 later this month.

The world is a worse place, less one brilliant peace activist:
History-making whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg has died at 92

Hero, RIP.

Former Connecticut Gov. Lowell P. Weicker Jr., maverick senator during Watergate, dies at 92

One of the last decent Republicans. He was the only U.S. senator, Dem or GOP, to get arrested at the South Africa embassy in the 80s, a fact I delighted in throwing in the face of Dem Sen Max Baucus (MT) during a town hall. RIP.

She was right about John Paul II and the Church, years before it was cool.

Sinéad O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U (Official Music Video) [HD]

Very very few people can say without question that they did a Prince song better than Prince. That's not to say that his version wasn't great, too, greater than even he knew until Sinéad covered it.

Prince - Nothing Compares 2 U (Official Music Video)

The following is previously unseen rehearsal footage of Prince & The Revolution from the summer of 1984. It was in this very room at Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse in Eden Prairie, Minnesota that Prince created and committed to tape one of his most beloved and iconic compositions, which six years later would become a worldwide hit for Sinead O’Connor. Prince’s original studio version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" is presented here for the first time.

Sinéad O'Connor recorded the song for her 1990 second album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got with a completely new arrangement by her and producer Nellee Hooper. O'Connor's version is in the key of F major

Nellee Hooper has a helluva resume'.

Since NBC News chose to cut from holding up the intace pic to tossing the pieces - stupid, mean and cowardly:

Sinéad O'Connor rips up picture of Pope John Paul II
SNL 3 October 1992

:-||

Fwiw, Entertainment Tonight, also on NBC, showed the full clip. :headscratch: Go figure.
