Yeah, it's not like UNC has ever been a football powerhouse. The list of 10+ wins or bowl wins for that matter is pretty short. But there's no reason they can't have a program that tootles along with consistent 7-5ish seasons and occasionally a bowl that's not played in some high school stadium in the back end of Texas.supesalemgr2 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 6:15 amYou are correct. Did the UNC administrators have some of Neo's good stuff when they made their decision to hire him? Did they know it was a package deal?

Who knows? I suspect they had no chance at a true top tier college coach like a Saban or Kiffin so they thought maybe an overrated used NFL coach with national notoriety might be the next best. Seems they were mistaken.supesalemgr2 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 11:40 amDid the UNC administrators have some of Neo's good stuff when they made their decision to hire him? The reality of NIL is emerging. I am surprised it took this long.
UGA is going to court to recoup NIL payments per the player's contract with UGA.I predict we will see more pf these cases.

Sure, money and control were all one-way from the schools for a long time and players' ability to earn from NIL should make the relationship more fair - not totally flip. A player shouldn't think all that money is for free or that s/he doesn't have to fulfill contracts.supesalemgr2 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 6:31 amhttps://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... -missouri/

28-7, billy's influence fershur. 'Bama -3 yards rushing, 2nd worst ever.

Re: College football
That chaos may suck in Durham AND Miami. ESPN:
Projecting the final College Football Playoff top 12
Someone is going to be upset -- and it's not just ACC champion Duke, which likely will be excluded from the playoff in favor of Sun Belt champion James Madison.
It might be the entire ACC that is fuming.
With Alabama losing to Georgia in the SEC championship game, the College Football Playoff selection committee's biggest decision Saturday night will be how far to drop the Tide -- and the result could mean the difference for Miami's playoff hopes. The focus of the final ranking on Selection Day (Noon ET, ESPN) will be where it has been all season -- on Notre Dame, Alabama and Miami....
Otoh:
Duke stirs CFP pot, defeats Virginia in OT of ACC title game
Duke defensive end Wesley Williams said he heard the refrain throughout the run-up to Saturday's ACC championship game: A Blue Devils win would be "a doomsday scenario."
At 7-5 and unranked, Duke arrived in Charlotte with a chance to win the conference and, in doing so, knock the ACC out of the College Football Playoff entirely, with two teams from the Group of 5 -- Tulane and James Madison -- potentially making it instead.
Well, doomsday has arrived, thanks to a series of fourth-down calls by Duke coach Manny Diaz, including one in overtime that resulted in the game-winning touchdown in a 27-20 Blue Devils win.
"Coach Diaz said this week, 'If you think people hate Duke now, just wait until we win the ACC,'" Williams said.
The ACC's fifth tie-breaker -- combined win percentage of conference opponents -- sent Duke to the league's title game from among five teams tied for second place in the standings, including Miami, a team on the fringe of an at-large CFP bid that could have benefited significantly from an extra game to wow the selection committee.
Rah rah rah.... Now, the conference will wait for the committee to deliver a verdict on both Duke and No. 12 Miami on Sunday. The Hurricanes are 10-2 but have consistently been ranked behind several other two-loss teams, including Notre Dame, a team the Canes beat in Week 1 of the season.
"Miami should get in," Diaz said after Saturday's win. "The head-to-head should matter. And so should we because we're the conference champion."
Good luck, but I'm not hopeful, especially for Duke.... The doomsday scenario for the ACC, however, could just as easily turn into a boon with two teams in, should the committee buy into Duke's sales pitch, and linebacker Luke Mergott, who hauled in the game-clinching interception in overtime, believes it will.
"We represent the ACC, and the ACC is a respected conference," Mergott said. "I think we'll be in, and I'm confident our name will be called."

In football? Seriously? S'cuse me, and I'm sincerely happy for Dook, but absent some sort of play-in tournament, any conference that manages to get a 7-5 team playing for its championship has issues.

Re: College football
Sort of. 10-2 Miami missed out on the championship due to the complicated ACC 5-way tiebreaker. Also, Clemson has kicked ass in recent years.
Anyhow, now we know. Not much controversy for 1-8.
I'm not qualified to argue what "should" have been done. So, anything I post is just about preferences.
#9 is 'Bama. Sorry, billie's ghost.
#10 is Miami
Notre Dame is pissed off over these 2 selections. I would have preferred it over 'Bama.
The last 2 slots have to go to conference champs.
#11 is Tulane
#12 is JMU. Duke fans are crushed, but to paraphrase O Really - Any Series that manages to get an 8-5 team playing for its championship has issues.

Yay 'Canes - I hope they show they belong there.
Booooo 'Bammer. Are they sharing some of their ref's pay with the selectors?
Yay Dook, even if they didn't get invited. I don't really think they deserve the bid at 8-5, but it just seem laughable that anybody would talk about "respect" for the conference when it's champ doesn't get a bid. 13-0 champ FSU might also opine on that.
