There seems to have been no actual theft, but a disagreement over payment and some bad player behaviour.

"Deion Sanders, the Florida State all-America cornerback, received six months probation and an $800 fine yesterday for grabbing a clerk's blouse and striking a security guard during a shopping mall scuffle. Sanders, 21, pleaded no contest in Fort Myers, Fla., to two simple battery charges and one count of disorderly conduct. All three charges were misdemeanors. Sanders had originally been arrested on the felony charge of battery on a police officer. He is also a baseball star and was expected to arrive at the Yankees' spring training camp next week. (AP)

I never made it a living or even a habit, but I stole some things in my youth. I'm more leery of one of the fastest ballers ever allowing himself to get caught than I am over the theft. ;)

2022 FCS Football Championship - Quarterfinals
GO @4 Montana St. (11-1-0) > 5 William & Mary (11-1-0)
The high in Bozeman was 24°F today, but Weber St (Ogden, Utah) is used to cold. Maybe a 25°F high next week for the boys from Williamsburg, Virginia.
https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/mt/bozeman
Wow, a 55-7 stomping!   The high was only 21 and the low was zero.
Montana St only threw 11 passes, but it rushed for well over 300 yards, including:
Isaiah Ifanse (solid MT name ;) ) 11 Rush, 162 Yds!, 14.7 Avg!, 68 Long! 2 TD

Incarnate Word 66, Sacramento State 63
IW pass for 21 yds for a TD with 0:27 left. I was rooting for Sacramento State.

1-1.

Go 8 Holy Cross (12-0-0) > 1 South Dakota St (-19) (11-1-0). As if. 12:00 PM EST, TV: ESPN
Winner plays 4 Montana St in the Semis. Highest seed gets the home game.

Heritage Bowl (HBCU championship) Sat, 12/17, 12:00 PM EST, TV: ABC
Go Jackson State Tigers 12-0 (-16) > North Carolina Central Eagles 9-2
GoDeionGo!

Oh well, within one score until the final 2:39. SDSU is vulnerable to the run, MSU's forte.
Next week in Brookings (far eastern), South Dakota.

Army and Navy went a combined 3/15 in passing in Army's 20-17 2OT win. This helps explain the errant targeting and collateral damage by alumni.

Lots of sniveling and whining going on in the comments. Did they expect the baby to be born fully mature, or is the just the typical pool? They've probably whined and sniveled at both sides of everything in their lives.
I was against it at first, but I'm liking it more and more.
Sure there are kinks, and always will be, but sports is about competition and this is the beginnings of athletes getting paid for what they are worth - including those who are only paid with a free ride in college and those who only do it for fun. What basketball team doesn't have a few who walked on ( knowing they'll never play unless everyone else fouls out), but are there for the fun of the game?

For a while there I was getting ready to say something I've never said before -"We're all Demon Deacons" - but noooooo. Effin' Clemson.

Terps put up a good fight.

Damn War Eagles may still want to coach-shop, with an eked-out OT win.

Middle of Nowhere in Tennessee is leading the Hurricanes, while Carolina has somehow managed to avoid being scored on in a whole quarter. Say yay while we can.
Ran across this today, maybe it explains "middle" better than I did.

"Flag of Tennessee: Symbolism
The symbolism behind the design of this flag is rich and meaningful. The three stars represent the three regions of Tennessee: East Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, and West Tennessee. They stand for unity among all Tennesseans despite their geographical differences"

It's in the flag east, middle and west

Your link does offer alternate meanings to the three stars, but I like that "Middle" is recognized. Since the flag came first, some might think Tolkien got the idea of "Middle Earth" from Tennessee.

GO:

FBS

2:30 PM EST Las Vegas Bowl TV: ESPN
(14) Oregon State 9-3 (-8.5) > Florida 6-6
Pretty crappy draw for the ranked Beavers

9:15 PM EST Frisco Bowl TV: ESPN
Boise State 9-4 (-10.5) > North Texas 7-6
Not as bad, but also a sketchy draw for the Broncos.

FCS

I missed the first semi yesterday, not that I cared.

Crap, perennial champ NDSU is in the big game again. NDSU had two 130+ yards rushers and ran for around 330 yards overall. Their QB is a story, though:
Cam Miller: 1/12, 8.3 Pct, 5 Yds, 0.4 Y/A, 0 TD, 0 Int, 1 Sack, 11 YdsL
 Their passing game went backwards!

Not that it matters, but to be picky it's not the Heritage Bowl anymore, which has been defunct for several years. It's now the "Historically Black Bowl" (not really, it's the "Cricket Celebration Bowl", but why celebrate crickets I don't know)

JSU S. Sanders pass,to T. Hunter for 19 yds for a TD, (A. Mata KICK)
15 plays, 81 yards, 4:31, 0:00 in the 4th, 34-34 OT.
Wow, good game.

EDIT: 34-41 NCCU, 3rd and goal, perfect JSU pass to a wide open receiver in the end zone, dropped by - you guessed it - the White guy, one of the very very few to play, maybe the only one. :angry-banghead: . Fuck diversity ;) . 4th down incomplete, game over. :(

Can't blame the JSU QB:
27/35, 329 YDS, 9.4 AVG, 4 TD, 0 INT :shock: :-||
Anemic run game, though.

Frank Gore Jr. sets all-time bowl record in Southern Miss' win over Rice

Frank Gore Jr. would not let his team lose.

The Southern Miss running back ran wild in his team’s victory over Rice in the LendingTree Bowl on Saturday night. In the 38-24 win, Gore set an all-time bowl record with 329 yards on just 21 carries.

Gore rushed for two touchdowns and also had an 18-yard touchdown pass. He scored from 64 yards out to put the Golden Eagles up 14-0 early in the second quarter and then he put the game away when he reeled off a 55-yard score with under three minutes to play.

With that last touchdown, Gore surged to the top of the record books for an individual bowl performance. Previously, Appalachian State’s Camerun Peoples’ 317 yards in the 2020 Myrtle Beach Bowl was the all-time bowl game record for rushing yards. Now that record belongs to Gore....
