NFL Football
Green bay is coming off a bye week. Hope they are getting healthy.
If so, look out. They're on a 4 game winning streak (as are three other 6-3 teams).
Season II is going to begin on Sunday! (well, Thursday, for some)
It's going to be fun!
BTW, Bungalow Bill, thanks for not hating the Packers after beating your Steelers in the Super Bowl.
Indeed, y'all had a great run. If it weren't for B.J. Raji, y'all would have won that game.
With or without Rothlesberger (more with and I hope he's OK), I always respect the Steelers.

Re: NFL Football
Having that good run did make it easier, a little bit, to take a Super Bowl defeat.
You can't win 'em all. Leaving that aside, in general I like the Packers. With so
many teams there are a few I like, a few I can't stand, and most I'm indifferent
to.
Doesn't look good if Ben is going to be out for a while. I didn't think they would
go all the way this year, but now I'm pretty sure they won't, but we'll see what
happens.

Well, the Bears got whipped by the 'Niners tonight.
Green Bay, though tied, record-wise, with the Bears, is now the Number One team in the NFC North!!!

Re: NFL Football
I'm surprised the Steelers Ravens game was as close as it was. D Fence. But those throwback/
throw up uniforms they are wearing. Just about the worst I've ever seen. Thank goodness
when this season is over.
If the Browns hadn't screwed up on penalties they might have beat the Cowboys at home. I
would have loved to see that happen. Alas.

Re: NFL Football
Yep. This is the Steelers' 80th anniversary and they apparently are wearing the uni from
around 1933. Yep, Great Depression/John Dillinger uniforms. But there is some good news.
I thought they were going to wear them for each home game left, but now it seems the one
against the Ravens marks the last time these horrors will be seen. Praise the Lord.
Plax is back. Plaxico Burress has signed with the Steelers, since it seems half the starting
team is on the bench. Can't hurt. And at least he won't have to wear the "bumblebee."

Let's just hope Plax continues to refrain from shooting himself.Bungalow Bill wrote:Plax is back. Plaxico Burress has signed with the Steelers, since it seems half the starting team is on the bench. Can't hurt. And at least he won't have to wear the "bumblebee."
Tough year for the Steelers, Bill. We'll see how it goes from here. As long as they're not playing the Packers (or an NFC North team), I'll be rooting for 'em!

Re: NFL Football
Hopefully he has learned his lesson and won't be fooling around with guns. I guess Tomlin
liked what he saw in Burress's practice.
Every team has injuries, but the Steelers were really hit this year--quarterback, running backs,
wide receivers. I think Charlie Batch will be starting on Sunday. Of course he hasn't played very
often, but when he has he's done a solid job. But it still looks like this will be a 'wait till next year'
season.

Gah! The Giants beat the crap out of Green Bay.
Bad game for the Pack and a great game for the Giants.
Nuts!
Still, congrats to the Giants. Respect!

I never know whether to hope Dallas doesn't make the playoffs or that they do and then
get beat. I think it was the last game played at RFK and the Skins beat up on the Cowboys
pretty badly. Great way to go out.

And a fond one too. I couldn't remember the exact score, but I knew it was pretty much a
blowout. I didn't remember that the Skins had such a bad year, but yes, if there was only
one victory, that's the team you want to beat.

WooHoo!
Packers win the division with a win over the Bears ... playoff bound without a doubt! (let's hope it's better than last year )

I was sitting back enjoying the Broncos (who I otherwise wouldn't pull for) crushing the
Ravens when at the end of the third quarter it was announced that the network would
switch over to a more competitive game. I would have rather watched Ray Lewis and
his teammates suffer for another quarter. Oh well.

Gotta love Peyton. My Mom lives in CO and is a huge Broncos fan.
They were a bit disappointed in the early going with him ... I said "Wait it out, you're going to be surprised."
Good to know I'm right once in a while.

Re: NFL Football
For some reason, buried in the long ago past, I was never much of a Broncos fan,
and while there's no doubt Peyton is a great QB, I never like him very much either,
maybe because a few years ago he seemed to be on every other TV commercial. I
don't say it makes sense.
Yeah, they screwed up with turnovers again. Run the ball out to the 50, ahead by a
touchdown and fumble. Yikes. I keep the remote close and as soon as Big Ben threw
the interception in OT, click it went. In my younger days I would sit through a three
hour loss, but now when things start to look bad I don't hang around, it's too hard
to watch. I don't think they had much of a chance this year to go all the way even
if they made it into the playoffs, now it will be wait till next year. At least Ben looks
like he's recovered from his injury.

Megabummer, especially when playing the Cowboys. Well at least
the Pats got beat tonight, that makes me feel a little better.

Re: NFL Football
Getting beat by Cincy at home--can't get much worse than that. The only silver lining
is that I don't think the Steelers had much of a chance to go all the way this year
anyway. I did enjoy seeing the Cowboys come back from being two touchdowns
down and then lose in OT on a rather freakish play.
