The Swiftie factor rules! Let's see if they (and Travis) stick around for next season.
Marriage or breakup song, I'm guessing 50-50.
Maybe Matt Nagy and the Chiefs will pick up Mitch, he's good for mop up duty and can sit and learn. :laughing-rolling:

I wonder if this crushes the civil suit and whether some team will give “Punt God” a shot now.
I would hope so.
The civil suit has been withdrawn.
Where does Matt Araiza go to to get his reputation — let alone his NFL career — back?
The accusations that caused Matt Araiza to lose his NFL career shouldn’t stand in the way of his chance to earn it back

... Ariaza acknowledged no wrongdoing and made no monetary payment to the accuser. His only concession was agreeing to pull his own defamation suit against the woman, though he maintained the right to sue her attorney.
:---P

Then, there's a strong possibility that non-consensual sex never occurred.
Previously, San Diego County police investigated the incident and declined to recommend that any charges be filed against anyone. The San Diego County prosecutor’s office then conducted a separate, independent investigation and came to the same conclusion.

Meanwhile, San Diego State University conducted its own “independent conduct” investigation and stated that there were “no findings against Matt Araiza.”

Oh well, if Araiza does well it means KC's offense is sputtering.

Broncos to cut Russell Wilson, take on $85M dead money hit
Highest known dead money charges

The Broncos' dead money charge for releasing Russell Wilson is larger than the next two closest combined all time, according to the Roster Management System.

Player Team Charge
Russell Wilson, '24 Broncos $85M
Matt Ryan, '22 Falcons $40.5M
Aaron Rodgers, '23 Packers $40.3M
Tom Brady, '23 Buccaneers $35.1M
Carson Wentz, '21 Eagles $33.8M
Dead money is not the same as a buyout, but the two are linked.

What Is an NFL Dead Cap Hit? Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan Hold Infamous Records

Broncos' management are Auburn alum? ;) :P

I hope Wilson has another great year or two in him somewhere before retirement. We'll see.

One article says the Steelers would be a good fit.

Sean Payton's ego made a fundamental mistake in not trying to adjust his offense to his quarterbacks strengths. Not everyone is Drew Brees. He knew who and what Russell Wilson was when he took the job.

Teams in "win now" mode are good candidates, Steelers and Vikings come to mind, although IMO the Steelers would be better off with Justin Fields for the long term. Their window seems perpetual while the Vikings are limited.

I can't read this article because it's ESPN+ :x :
Best fits for Russell Wilson: Where could QB revive career?

However, their clickbait partially defeats itself with the url, itself, revealing: "atlanta-falcons-las-vegas-raiders-pittsburgh-steelers"

Good choice.
Sources: Russell Wilson to sign free agent deal with Steelers

... Wilson will sign a team-friendly, one-year deal. The Denver Broncos, who told him last week that he would be released, will wind up paying $38 million of his salary while he wears the black and yellow.
AFC opponent. That's darn nice of them. Opps. He could try coaching for Auburn after he retires from playing :P

Cool video. Interesting song choice, not sure what to make of that.
... The Steelers' 2024 schedule includes a game in Denver against the Broncos, which now could feature Wilson's return.
Figures. Any bets? I'll go with Pittsburgh.

10-7 last year, lost a playoff game to the Bills. Could be a contendah.

Interesting Bears discussion, scroll down:
How Kirk Cousins' contract affects Falcons, Vikings, Bears

... And how does this -- as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers landing Russell Wilson -- affect the market for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, who is expected to be moved to pave the way for the Bears to draft USC's Caleb Williams? ...

What does this -- and the Steelers landing Russell Wilson -- mean for Justin Fields' market?

Sounds like this might be the best option:
... Chicago could keep Fields and a rookie quarterback drafted No. 1 overall on the roster throughout the offseason and trade the 25-year-old when an injury takes out a starter....
Kinda weird to be awaiting injury, but that's true for every backup at every position.

As the trade market dries up around them people forget there is no hurry. A preseason and early season audition period may forthcoming unless Caleb Williams blows out Fields.

They're going all in with Wilson:
Sources: Steelers trading QB Kenny Pickett to Eagles

... With the move, Wilson is the only quarterback under contract with the Steelers....
Pretty risky with a 35 year old QB. Maybe an option for Justin Fields?

Bears got hosed, but I wish Justin well, by all accounts he was a good guy and teammate.

The Bears have been very busy, although more work is needed on the O line. Caleb Williams couldn't ask for a better landing spot.

NFL owners approve massive revamp to kickoff play

... The new alignment rules represent the most significant on-field rule change for the NFL in years and are designed to reverse more than a decade of declining return rates while also lowering concussion rates. In essence, the format will move the majority of the kicking and return teams downfield to minimize high-speed collisions. It will go into effect for one year only in anticipation of possible tweaks over time....
I appreciate the goals and am fine with trying new things. However, traditionalists are going to have a cow. What do y'all think?
