You can see blue whales off Dana Point, CA in southern Orange County! I didn't know that was possible anywhere in the US.

About an hour ago I was out on my porch basking in the afterglow of some fine Mr Natural and noticed a small (about 4 or 5 inches) lizard over on the edge of the porch. It didn't appear to be brimming with glistening sacs of poison and didn't act in a menacing manner. So I didn't stomp it.

You are a wise, benevolent and compassionate lizard stomper.

Yeah, I know. I watched the little treacherous fucker slither off into the plants. He never even looked back at me. Fearless. I just hope I'm not around when he gets to be about eight feet long. I'll deny any responsibility if I'm still here.

I'd suggest stomping it at 2-3 feet long. Otherwise, we'll be calling you 'Pegleg' and your stomping will just look like awkward hopping.

Dinosaur tracks from 113M years ago have become visible amid drought

... The Dinosaur Valley State Park near Fort Worth, Texas, famous for exactly what its name suggests, has discovered dinosaur footprints that have historically been covered by water and sediment....

Image

... Davis said the tracks at this site are possibly the longest tracks made by a single dinosaur in North America. Davis said the tracks are from Acrocanthosaurus dinosaurs from millions of years ago....

How we never heard of this park, I don't know. Maybe because we don't look for things that make us go to Texas. But those are some cool footprints. The guy is literally walking in the footprints of dinosaurs. Huge footprints.

The park has had some controversy, including the former property owner faking some of the prints and faking human ones alongside them. But apparently the ones on display now are indeed real.

"seems"? The fundies tell us that the Earth and Universe are only 6000 years old. These must be "crisis actor" dinosaurs.

Lady O and I have a running joke about that. We'll see something and say "wow, that's over a million years old - or at least 6,000"

I don't think I've ever met anybody personally who really believed the 6,000 year ummm "theory", but it would be interesting to see how they'd relate that to all they can see with their own eyes. If their limit was, say, 500,000 years, maybe you could understand that they could say "well, nobody really knows what the world was like before then, so I'll believe it was a great void waiting for God to create something." But 6,000 years? I think the oldest written language is almost that old. Some believe the Sumarian writing below is translated as "dinosaurs have been gone a long time" ...or something like that.

Damn, they're as numerous, desirable and pleasant as RepuQs at a Navarre (or (Hooterville) school board meeting.

Much much cooler and prettier than republicans.

Spoiler:

I was fooled for a few seconds, then quickly figured out what they are, but was trying to see what was making them run backwards.
Those are coati (little racoonish animals in Central America and around that area) walking backwards bc the film is reversed.

I went looking for vulture omens in order to make some quip, but what I found is that Uru is his trained pet. :(

That should have occurred to me  . However, this is the first flight where Uru has landed on him, so there was some surprise to it.
