Good lord. To paraphrase the applicable image of the Hindenburg, "The stupidity! The stupidity"!
Does no one understand the difference in correlation and causation anymore?
"My kid was vaccinated and swam in a lake once and was bitten by a snapping turtle. My other unvaccinated kid swam in a lake (different lake, different place, different time) and didn't get bit. Therefore vaccinations cause turtle bites."

Re: Sickophants
God hell! I must be lucky. I've had lots of vaccines and have never once been bitten by a turtle. Once while i was on leave in Taipei, the ship left two days earlier than it was supposed to, leaving me stranded. I didn't mind that because I'd been staying with an American girl who had her own place. Anyway, I had to get all the standard military vaccines (again) before I could leave the country since I did not have my medical records on me. So got about four shots and they flew me to Guam, where I waited another two days for the ship to arrive. At the time I did not know of the turtle bite / vaccine connection, which was a true blessing because I'd have been worried sick had I known of it.

If not already there will soon be products shilled by JENNY MCCARTHY that claim to reverse vaccines, thus eliminating "milk soy protein" allergies. Of course, the user will become vulnerable to numerous deadly diseases. Oh well.

They must be quite fast as well, because I've never seen one of either. I think Guam is the most forgettable place I've ever been.Vrede too wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 4:41 pmTaipei and Guam turtles are the worst!neoplacebo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 9:44 amGod hell! Ive been seeing tv ads for a shingles vaccine. It says that nearly everybody over the age of 50 already has the virus that causes shingles. The first time I saw one of them, I thought

Think of the shingles vaccine as a booster. It will keep the virus from flaring up again in your ancient nerves. Believe me, you don't want that. We saw many patients who only came in for pain control. There is no treatment for the virus, itself.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 09, 2026 8:35 amI've been seeing tv ads for a shingles vaccine. The first time I saw one of them, I thoughtwhat the hell good is a vaccine for a virus you probably already have? I only want vaccines for things I've never had. And I'm beginning to suspect that at some point in the past (without my knowledge or consent) I was given the vaccine against sudden massive infusions of cash. The damn thing has worked pretty well most of my life.
The shingles vaccine won't make you wealthy, but Medicare or VA will cover it. So, it won't make you poor, either.

I've never had shingles, and took the vaccine, but I've known people who have had it. Vrede's right - you definitely don't want to get it.

Ah, so there must be quite a bit of inherent immunity for this. I don't know anything about it; never really heard of it until those ads. The pic O Really posted looks sort of like the aftermath of a scalding hot water burn or something.Vrede too wrote: ↑Fri Jan 09, 2026 10:09 amThink of the shingles vaccine as a booster. Re: Sickophants
It's a unilateral rash, a classic feature of the virus living in the nerves and "scalding hot water burn" is a pretty good description of how sufferers describe the pain.

Another example:
An Olympian mildly criticizes the U.S.? Un-American. Trump calls America "disgusting"? All good!

Hey, for the spineless balless amoeba formerly known as "Little Marco" that's not even a major humiliation. I'll bet giving him shoes too large was intentional.
