2024 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

TFG will definitely have a harder time if he takes the dive. Can he win without speaking to any "credible" journalists?

His 35% will vote for him regardless, fence sitters?

Maybe not so much.

Voices: Trump’s NPR interview went even worse than he could have possibly imagined
 Would he be a shoe-in for the nomination, and does that bode well for Dems in the general?

Very possible as all the Dems have to do is put up a palatable candidate and we can repeat 2020.

I think it all depends on how many Republican idiots die between now and the next couple of years. I'm not going to tell them about my prior success with frogs, butterflies, and novel humans. They deserve no knowledge and should in fact rename their party the Know Nothings, or at least the See Nothings.

The "debates" as currently held are generally worthless, anyway. The moderators don't control the candidates very well, despite some efforts by some. They still let the candidates wander directly off the topic to make prepared statements and general bullshit. If I were running the debates, the rules would go like this:
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for participating in the first O Really sponsored presidential debate. So that there is no misunderstanding, I'd like to be clear on the purpose and conduct of this event.

1. (a)The moderators, and possibly members of the audience, will ask questions to you. (b)You must answer the question directly and specifically. If it is a yes/no question, you must answer with yes/no, after which you may add details. (c) If you do not address the question directly, we will mute your mic and divert the camera.

2. Once you have answered the question, you may not go on to another topic. If you do, refer to 1(c), above.

3. You may not interrupt any participant or moderator. If you do, refer to 1(c), above.

4. If asked for evidence of any statement you make, you must provide a credible reference. If you don't, refer to 1(c), above.

5. You will be fact-checked live. If you make a statement determined to be substantively false, you must retract it. If you don't...you know what will happen.

Yeah, I know - nobody is going to play by those rules. They'll all have "other obligations."

GQP would be a no-show.

So what happens if some Mavericky nominee decides you know I'd be better served doing debates.

Is the RNC going to tell their base to vote for someone else and withhold monies?

The first issue is whether the Commission proceeds without major party participation. Of course, others can sponsor debates.

Then, parties do have the power to seriously harm candidates. Not everyone can be a successful rogue like Trump.

Anyhow, I anticipate compromise, current RepuQ whining notwithstanding. They won't want to see empty podia.

Maybe the GOP is thinking about some variation on professional "wrestling" instead of a debate. Ugly fat white women will circle the area holding signs with short dog whistle statements about things that didn't happen. Some will have signs consisting of patriotic bullshit and blatant lies.

Whatever is decided, you can be assured it will include a repug advantage.

:) RepuQs hate that there's now real time fact checking. Even if it's not wimpy moderators doing it scores of credible others fact check online. Idk, maybe they would prefer no debate at all.

Their only real preference is power.

The means to get it are fluid.

God hell. I think you've stumbled onto the Republican strategy by accident. As well as their justification for it. Take a victory lap.
