Cool, hadn't seen that.
Yeah, the sea turtles and ice sheet are great, too ;) , but nothing beats a mocking mariachi band. Viva!

While Biden visits storm-torn Texas, Sen. Ted Cruz will be giving a speech on 'cancel culture' in Florida

Biden = Action for Texas along with Gov Abbott.
Teddy = Yet another escape from Texas and more irrelevant whining.

Where does one buy tickets for winter?

How much are they?

Are there any good seats left?

Both you and I know that on the coast of California, from about Oakland down, winters here cannot possibly compare to those in New England and the northern half of most of the USA into Canada. Little to no snow, you see. But the rain is welcome, at least for now.

I resumed the gutter cleaning for a couple of hours this afternoon. The plastic gutter screening was in much better shape there. Probably because it's newer, and maybe also because it's more shaded from the sun. If there's a break in the rain tomorrow I may resume the chore. I may need to research other options, like stainless steel plates. Perforated, of course. Let's face it, gutters basically suck swamp water. At least I didn't fall off the ladder.

I could, if I wanted - and there are some who do - surf in the morning and drive an hour and a half to Mt. Palomar and play in the snow.

That's beautiful. And no, we don't have quite that - but we do have animals with ours.

Sure, but did you check Saturday and Sunday? I didn't mean to imply that I could literally do that today - but it's pretty common. Even more so when the snow gets down to about 4,000 feet and makes Julian a very popular snowy destination. And makes driving up the mountain in the company of thousands of people who either never knew or forgot how to drive in snowy conditions quite the adventure in itself.

Maybe I can find manufactured snow somewhere around here, but maybe not at 67F in town.

Looks pretty awesome, but to be honest I haven't been to a zoo in thirty years. After seeing moose, bear and other animals in the wild I find zoo's too depressing. The animals look miserable and are unnatural and all's I want to do is set them free.

Jurassic zoo.
 I can appreciate their conservation work and some habitats are better than others, but my last zoo visit was to the San Diego Zoo 30+ years ago.

Check that, I went to the Western North Carolina Nature Center over 10 years ago, and I've visited rescue outfits in SoFL and Thailand. I support the missions, but was depressed by the reality.

Yeah, if certain animals are endangered to the point of extinction I can get behind that because it's their best chance.

I can understand not liking the concept of incarcerating wild animals, but some places, the San Diego Safari Park and the North Carolina Zoo included, provide as close to to a natural experience as possible while managing breeding programs that preserve species and educate the public on animal and wildlife issues. It's hard to look at, for example, elephants and gazelles out on a savannah-like field and think they're mistreated or unhappy in any way. Certainly from the gazelles' standpoint, it's a good thing the lions are in another space.
