Mass Shootings

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Our country sucks.
Ugh, about 1.25 hours from you in Tinley Park:

Chicago area father tells police why he shot and killed his wife and 3 daughters

All 3 daughters were adults. This would not have been possible without a gun :ateeth:
Ugh is right. Couldn't even finish the vid.

Very possibly, up until the moment he shot his family, he would have been considered "a good guy with a gun" because he apparently wasn't a common criminal. But clearly he was not "a good guy" and probably would have found a way to wreak violence on his family with a machete or something. But it would have been way more difficult and probably there would be some survivors. And that's the point missed (ignored) by the gun nuts - that easy accessibility and the gun culture kills off more than the "bad guys."

Understandable :(

Jury finds Michigan school shooter’s mother Jennifer Crumbley guilty of manslaughter

Good. Shame that your HP 7/4 parade shooter's dad only got 60 days in prison and two years of probation.

Yes, but any conviction is progress. Once the concept of liability for what minors do with guns is generally applied, a lot of parents may change their practices. It hasn't been all that long (and may still be the case) since you could get a stiffer penalty for having a hole in the fence around your swimming pool than for leaving a gun around the house.

I don't know if the laws are different or the fact that Crimo was an adult when he got the guns and committed the crimes and the Michigan kid was a minor.

So if you've got a couple of friends and they say, "yo, come pick us up and let's cruise down the beach." So you go get them and you're all driving down the boulevard. One of the friends says "pull over to the WaWa so I can get some beer." You park and the two guys go inside. You hear a couple of loud bangs, and the friends come out running and say "drive!" Cops bag you in a few miles and hauled away to jail for robbery using a firearm. Does the fact that you didn't know, had no way of knowing, and could not have reasonably guessed that your friends would rob the store keep you, the driver to took them to the crime and drove getaway, from being charged? Nooooo, although you might get a lower sentence.

In Florida the clueless guy in the car (I’m pretty sure) gets somewhere between manslaughter and murder if there’s a death somehow to heart attack victim or responding leo. Just the fact that there was a gun nets him a 20 year minimum. Possibly changed now but there were signs in the stores advertising 20-40-life for 1st, 2nd, 3rd gun offense.

In Alabama it’s a-okay to deliver a loaded gun to your friend to use in a murder if you live in Tuscaloosa and are a star basketball player for University of Alabama, even if you block the exit preventing the victim from leaving. The nba has the same exception
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

SC poised to possibly allow permitless carry:

Given how dumb my fellow second-best Carolinians are, I do not support this.

Triggering.

1 known dead, nine wounded as of now. Open carry state. Guess there weren't any good guys around.

At least 8 children among 22 hit by gunfire at end of Chiefs' Super Bowl parade; 1 person killed

... Kansas City has long struggled with gun violence, and in 2020 it was among nine cities targeted by the U.S. Justice Department in an effort to crack down on violent crime. In 2023 the city matched a record with 182 homicides, most of which involved guns....
How many bullets fired in order to hit 22? Then, there are the others injured in falls, etc. while escaping the shooting.

Je suis Kansas City :(

In Missouri:
No permit required to purchase, own, sell, or carry firearm. Restrictions on where carry is prohibited are scant - ironically like police stations.

Who could possibly have predicted that with a rowdy crowd of a mllion people some "good guys with guns" would shoot up each other and some bystanders?

Police Chief, and others, plead "this is not Kansas City." Well, it turns out, it is. In 2023, KC had it most ever homicides at 182 or about one every other day all year long. Mostly with guns; mostly Black males. And that's just people that were killed. Couldn't find a number of shootings without deaths, but I'm guessing there's probably in excess of one/day. Nothing unusual about the shooting at the SB celebration, and the only difference was that there were a lot more people accidentally in the line of fire of the "good thugs with guns."

Yet nobody will admit that it's gun culture and availability of guns that make these things so commonplace.

Damn straight! Our Kansas City ammosexuals should have a much better kill ratio than 1 to 22 or 23, with the one being a radio host, mother, and almost certainly a nonbelligerent. Friggin' posers.

In "not Kansas City" today an adult male and a teen male were shot/killed and another person injured. This crime will pass by unnoticed because there weren't a bunch of bystanders.

:( The 2/14 2024 Kansas City parade shooting was on the 6th anniversary of the Parkland high school shooting (17 dead, 17 injured). About 270,000 Americans have been killed by firearms since Parkland.
Suspect dead amid shooting that claimed the lives of 2 officers, 1 first responder, group says

... The association also said negotiations with a suspect, who eventually died, went on for four hours before a SWAT team entered the home in the Minneapolis suburb of Burnsville. Seven children were inside the home....

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said on Facebook that in addition to those killed, other officers were injured.
"Happy" anniversary  :problem: :puke-left:
