The 2021 World Series will be the championship series of Major League Baseball's (MLB) 2021 season. The 117th edition of the World Series, it will be a best-of-seven playoff played between the National League (NL) champion Atlanta Braves and the American League (AL) champion Houston Astros. The series is scheduled to begin on October 26, with a potential seventh game scheduled for November 3. It will be the first World Series since 2014 to have no #1 seeded team from either leagues.

This is the second World Series to feature two franchises that have previously met in either a Division Series (contested since 1995) or a League Championship Series (contested since 1969), the other being the 2017 World Series between the Astros and Dodgers.[citation needed]

Anderson and four relievers combined on a two-hitter.

Pinch-hitter Aledmys Díaz blooped a single leading off the eighth against reliever Tyler Matzek that dropped in front of left fielder Eddie Rosario, just 232 feet from home plate, for Houston's first hit.

Alex Bregman grounded a single through the wide-open right side of a shifted infield leading off the ninth against closer Will Smith, who remained perfect in five save chances this postseason.

On a related subject, I confess to being a bit surprised by the faked American Indian chanting by the Braves' fans in Friday's game. I can see why American Indian groups are offended by it. It basically belittles their culture, which has zip to do with major league sports. Against the backdrop of the effective genocide of the native peoples of the Americas by European invaders, it's pretty disgusting. The least the teams that borrow such trappings could pay a hefty price to the tribes they have so offended. But we all know that won't happen unless the teams are forced. And I would consider that the remaining tribes would be deeply offended by the thought that their heritage could be bought in such a fashion.

Perhaps some sports team should dress up in priestly regalia and the crowd can chant Christmas carols during games? How would that go down?

I dunno, but we could ask the bunch of teams named things like Friars, Padres, Angels, Demon Deacons, Battling Bishops, Saints what if anything they chant. I think the Friars and Padres should use a Gregorian-based chant.

Man, you know its a dull Series when we're talking about obnoxious fans instead of the game play.

Actually I think it's been a fairly interesting series.

Close games (except for #2), and all.

Of course it would be even better if the SF Giants were in it, but maybe next year.

If the Braves manage to win this one, and the next game on Sunday, they win the series.
