Interesting.
Must be weird to have so many young men (and wives/girlfriends?) flying. Or, does Russia draft women, too?
Surprising number flying east. China?
Lots flying to Turkey. I guess European flights are banned.

So if a Russian snuck into the US would they be eligible for asylum status? And would DeSantis bus them to Massachusetts?

I noticed that. I wonder how they have any overfly permissions.

You have to think that some are here or trying to get here, but officially all Russians including the draft dodgers may be blocked.

Sorry, Idk how to make this mp4 smaller, but it's not that much of a pain to scroll left and right, or you can watch the full report on YT.

Russia: man shoots officer drafting residents for war in Ukraine
In separate incident, another man sets himself on fire as protests at Putin’s partial mobilisation continue

... Protests also continued for a third day in Russia’s Dagestan region, where officers have fired automatic weapons in the air to disperse angry crowds. Meanwhile, thousands of cars have lined up at the Russian borders carrying young men seeking to flee the country in order to escape the draft.

There is a sense that tensions are rising across Russia, as angry showdowns at local draft centres play out in videos published to social media and rumours circulate about an impending closure of the borders or even martial law.

This is “only the fifth day” of conscription, wrote Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president. “Before the coffins begin to return.”

... Video from several small towns this weekend showed police officers being confronted by the angry relatives of draftees. Half a dozen draft centres have been torched in arson attacks in the last week, and police made hundreds of arrests across the country in order to disperse local protests sparked by the announcement....

Semi-serious question: Why do reports of Putin claiming to "annex" parts of Ukraine seem to give some credibility to that meaningless act, even when using the term "illegal"? A country can take over parts or all of another by force, but having some ceremony in your own yard "declaring" an annexation has about the same value as Trump thinking about de-classification and thus it happens. Even if the territories had had a real and honest vote, as part of Ukraine they couldn't just leave for Russia. News reports should refer to Putin's "ridiculous and meaningless" claim or state clearly that Putin saying it doesn't make it happen. That's not presenting an editorial view - that's just the fact.

However, in case I'm wrong and one country can just say "I'll annex that part of that country and it will be part of my country", then I'm going to contact Premier Trudeau and ask him to hold an annexation ceremony for California, Oregon and Washington.

I'm not so sure that my state's government affects me more than the federal government. Too fucking bad for this fairly unhealthy old guy, whose current income is tied to vacation rental properties, wouldn’t be accepted by the countries where I would consider moving.

I also imagine that if this insanity goes to shooting, it will be in the east coast cities and all along the west coast.

I do continue talking to my brickwall of a son about leaving the country. I really wish he would leave this place behind.

-0-? One thing mentioned by the talking heads is that he will now say that Ukrainian liberation moves are "attacks on Russia". Semantics, sure, but may matter to some gullible sycophants.

Speaking of Ukrainian liberation:

Blast damages prestige Crimea bridge central to Russia war effort

A powerful truck explosion seriously damaged Russia’s road-and-rail bridge to Crimea on Saturday, hitting a prestige symbol of Moscow’s annexation of the peninsula and the key supply route to Russian forces battling to hold territory captured in southern Ukraine.

The blast on the bridge over the Kerch Strait, for which Russia did not immediately assign blame, prompted gleeful messages from Ukrainian officials but no direct claim of responsibility....

Russia seized Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 and the 19-km (12-mile) Kerch bridge linking it to Russia’s transport network was opened with great fanfare four years later by President Vladimir Putin, who drove a construction truck across it....

It also took place a day after Putin's 70th birthday.

The head of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, posted a video of the burning bridge on social media alongside a video of Marilyn Monroe singing "Happy birthday, Mr President".
 That's brilliant.
... Russia's Defence Ministry said in a statement that its forces in southern Ukraine could be "fully supplied" through existing land and sea routes, and the Transport Ministry said rail traffic across the bridge would resume by 1700 GMT.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Kyiv's reaction to the destruction of civilian infrastructure "testifies to its terrorist nature".
 I'm amazed that she didn't choke on those words.
The Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee said a freight truck had blown up on the bridge's roadway at 6:07 a.m. (0307 GMT), causing seven fuel tanker wagons to catch fire on a train heading for the peninsula on the bridge's upper level.
Either an incredible coincidence or fantastic planning. Must have been a huge bomb given that so much energy would dissipate away from the bridge.
... An adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy posted a message on Twitter saying the incident was just "the beginning" but stopped short of saying Ukrainian forces were responsible for the blast.

"Everything illegal must be destroyed, everything that is stolen must be returned to Ukraine, everything occupied by Russia must be expelled," Mykhailo Podolyak wrote....

Mykola Bielieskov of the Ukrainian Institute of Strategic Studies, which advises the presidency in Kyiv, said the Kerch bridge was irreplaceable for Russia's invasion forces, and if it were severed, "the whole Russian southern front will crumble quickly and easily"....
Wishful thinking?

Still targeting civilian structures I see.

Just read on the BBC that the Russian Governor was stating that Ukraine shelled the apartment block. Good to see Russia still fucking itself over.
