Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Aha, 10 minutes earlier:

Donald and Elon:

-married 3 times, 3 baby mommas
-diet coke addicted
-got lots of money from daddy
-went to UPenn
-questionable taxes
-late night Tweets for attention
-hard right turns
-constant media attention
-well documented that they both frequently lie
Of course there are no photos of your ten children.

The "unflattering pic":

I am fine with banning the swastika as being offensive and bigoted. However, IMO this is not an "incitement to violence". I see is as calling Jews 'Nazis', instead. The Times of Israel article:
... Musk, who previously called himself a “free speech absolutist,” has repeatedly said he believes all content permitted by law should be allowed on Twitter, and sought to remake the social media organization after he took control in October....
So, in other words - it was about the unflattering pic.

On the new Twitter "free speech" =
Hate Speech's Rise on Twitter Is Unprecedented, Researchers Find

Before Elon Musk bought Twitter, slurs against Black Americans showed up on the social media service an average of 1,282 times a day. After the billionaire became Twitter’s owner, they jumped to 3,876 times a day.

Slurs against gay men appeared on Twitter 2,506 times a day on average before Musk took over. Afterward, their use rose to 3,964 times a day.

And antisemitic posts referring to Jews or Judaism soared more than 61% in the two weeks after Musk acquired the site....

The shift in speech is just the tip of a set of changes on the service under Musk. Accounts that Twitter used to regularly remove — such as those that identify as part of the Islamic State group, which were banned after the U.S. government classified it as a terror group — have come roaring back. Accounts associated with QAnon, a vast far-right conspiracy theory, have paid for and received verified status on Twitter, giving them a sheen of legitimacy.

These changes are alarming, researchers said, adding that they had never seen such a sharp increase in hate speech, problematic content and formerly banned accounts in such a short period on a mainstream social media platform.

“Elon Musk sent up the Bat Signal to every kind of racist, misogynist and homophobe that Twitter was open for business,” said Imran Ahmed, CEO of the Center for Countering Digital Hate. “They have reacted accordingly.”

Musk, who did not respond to a request for comment, has been vocal about being a “free speech absolutist” who believes in unfettered discussions online. He has moved swiftly to overhaul Twitter’s practices, allowing former President Donald Trump — who was barred for tweets that could incite violence — to return. Last week, Musk proposed a widespread amnesty for accounts that Twitter’s previous leadership had suspended. And Tuesday, he ended enforcement of a policy against COVID misinformation.
Is this the death watch for Twitter? Can it be saved by advertisers and the EU?
... On Wednesday, Twitter sought to reassure advertisers about its commitment to online safety. “Brand safety is only possible when human safety is the top priority,” the company wrote in a blog post. “All of this remains true today.”

The appeal to advertisers coincided with a meeting between Musk and Thierry Breton, digital chief of the European Union, in which they discussed content moderation and regulation, according to an EU spokesperson. Breton has pressed Musk to comply with the Digital Services Act, a European law that requires social platforms to reduce online harm or face fines and other penalties.

Breton plans to visit Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters early next year to perform a “stress test” of its ability to moderate content and combat disinformation, the spokesperson said....

So the only real difference between Musk and Trump now is that Musk is actually a billionaire?

 "cost-cutting measures" are what one does BEFORE the bills come due. Just refusing to pay the bills is fraud (or something akin to it) presaging total collapse.

Twitter is dying, soon to be solely a haven for the Klan and Cult .45. Sad for the workers and creditors, but something will replace it. Always does. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying watching Mush turning his $44B to garbage, flushing more money down the toilet, and wrecking the reputation of his other brands. The Twitter purchase and crash may be remembered by history on par with Enron and the Edsel failure.

Refusing to pay bills is just general deadbeatery, but his strategy may be to consider that it will take several months to get evicted, so maybe he's just going to pay up just before. Or, since he's essentially closed some of the offices already, he's just going to let them go to eviction. There will be more lawsuits, of course. I know nothing about running a social media platform company, but I really don't see how the company survives this. nttawwt.

Not necessarily - apparently concessions have been offered to no avail. Here's more...

From Axios:
Twitter has stopped paying the rent on some of its office leases and hasn't paid numerous other vendors since Elon Musk acquired the company in late October, Axios has learned from multiple sources.

Why it matters: One of the world's richest men isn't honoring financial obligations made to those with far fewer resources.

What to know: Twitter had offices all over the world before Musk acquired it, and many of them remain in use. But it leases the space, rather than owns it.

Since Musk took over, the monthly bills haven't been getting paid.
Axios has obtained emails between Twitter employees and several frustrated landlords, who could be best described as getting the run-around.

In some cases, the landlords offered lease termination deals whereby Twitter wouldn't owe the full amount, but were rebuffed.
One major issue seems to be that many of the landlords' contacts at Twitter have either been fired or quit, leaving behind junior staffers who are trying to catch up.

But the delinquency is so widespread that some believe it's de facto policy under Musk, as suggested in a New York Times report about how the company's new owner is seeking to cut costs.
What they're saying: Bill Reynolds, a Colorado landlord who leased Twitter around 40,000 square feet in Boulder, tells Axios: "If you don't pay, you don't stay. They aren't paying, so they aren't staying."

Another source who claims Twitter owes them hundreds of thousands of dollars notes that there is a human cost to these business disputes: "They owe me the money, but then those dollars would go out to nearly 25 other people."
Twitter no longer has a communications team or other spokespeople for Axios to contact for comment.
