Entertaining article here about DeSantis' horrid campaign:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/losing-alrea ... 53546.html
It seems the governor might want to focus less on the question “How can I stop wokeness?” and more on “Why am I losing to someone who keeps getting arrested?"
So to recap, the much-ballyhooed conservative warrior from Florida is up against a candidate who lost the last presidential election, was impeached twice by the House of Representatives, fomented an attack on the U.S. Capitol, was recently found liable for sexual abuse in a civil lawsuit, is under state and federal indictment with two other serious investigations pending and spends most of his time writing conspiratorial nonsense in all-caps on his own social media site … and DeSantis is not just losing but losing badly.
... Getting beat by Donald Trump at this point is just embarrassing ...

Guess what? People like Disney a lot more than they like Ron DeSantis.

That whole kerfuffle is working out great for DeSantis. A new Navigator poll found that over the past year, Disney’s net favorability rating dropped only 1 point, with 63% of Americans having a favorable view of the entertainment giant.

The same poll found that since November, DeSantis’ net favorability has fallen 16 points, with 32% of Americans having a favorable view of the man Trump dubbed “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

Among registered voters, the poll found 50% of voters side with Disney in its battle with DeSantis, while only 33% side with the governor. What’s worse, a sizable 17% of voters aren’t even aware of the whole ridiculous conflict, which has to really hurt if you're DeSantis.

(This is the part where Goofy comes out and plays a sad trombone: Whomp-whomp.) ...
Ex-GOP Lawmaker Nails Why Ron DeSantis Is 'A Uniquely Unlikeable Person'
Former Rep. David Jolly cut to the heart of the Florida governor's problem connecting with voters.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has seen his popularity crater in recent months, even after announcing that he’s running for president. One of his former colleagues says he knows why.

Former Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.), who served in the House at the same time as DeSantis, said on MSNBC on Thursday that it’s because the governor is a “uniquely unlikeable person.”

“As you get to know him, you discover it’s this odd mix of vanity and paranoia and kind of the smartest-person-in-the-room complex,” Jolly said. “The problem is the moment that he demonstrates his intelligence he says things that are antithetical to science and history and law and the Constitution, and it leaves people kind of scratching their head.” ...

"The proposal, HB 605, would open up the opportunity only to people who had charges dropped, were found not guilty or were arrested but not ultimately charged."

Someone heard that deSanctimonious exclaimed hooray, so what if a cop fucked up and arrested the wrong person, they were likely criminals anyway.

"Criminal justice groups who supported the bill that was vetoed Tuesday were surprised because it had passed with unanimous support in the Florida Senate, and only two “no” votes in the House.

“Expungement is not a ‘soft on crime’ policy,” said Christian Minor, a Florida lobbyist who was directly involved in advocating for the bill’s passage. It “would have afforded Floridians never convicted of a crime the opportunity to expunge their records and go on to lead a life of success and become tax-paying citizens.”

A resurfaced Ron DeSantis campaign photo from 2015 is making waves because of a bizarre detail.

The photo from his Senate campaign has a beach setting and features a quote from DeSantis’ wife, Casey, in which she calls him “a man of integrity and honor.”
"integrity and honor" except . . .
However, eagle-eyed people managed to find the original photo from a Flickr account called “DeSantis for Senate” and noticed something weird about it: Neither DeSantis nor his wife left footprints in the sand.

Image
Opps.
Many people noticed the lack of sand prints and thoroughly mocked DeSantis.

“Yeah, but can your candidate walk on the beach while leaving zero footprints behind?”
Pic of the imposters Ron and Casey DeSantis, taken with a fake backdrop

No footprints 🤔 Right foot “cocked”

W the beautiful beaches in Florida, are they afraid of the red tide or flesh eating bacteria seaweed or toxic algae ?

Or is it bc neither have a lick of authenticity?
The bottom half of the desantis beach pic looks like he’s holding an upside down beach umbrella

Image
:laughing-rolling:
Oh dear, here's man of integrity, meatball Ron standing with his wife in a studio in front of a beach poster. Ron is so unwoke that he doesn't leave footprints. Literally.
I didn’t know it was possible to make a beach photo shoot creepy, but Ron DeSantis managed to do it. Is anything real about this man?
Others “improved” the photo with their own photoshop choices.

"the EPA notes, "Florida alone accounts for approximately 80 percent of the current capacity, making it the world's largest phosphate producing area."

Florida's prominent role means the state also has massive waste sites called phosphogypsum stacks, or "gypstacks." Such stacks can be very large — spanning up to 800 acres and about 200 feet in height. They've been linked to serious water pollution over the years, due to sinkholes and other breaches.

Is phosphogypsum dangerous?
"Phosphogypsum contains appreciable quantities of uranium and its decay products, such as radium-226," according to the EPA, which also notes that because the fertilizer production process concentrates waste material, "phosphogypsum is more radioactive than the original phosphate rock."

"The radium is of particular concern because it decays to form radon, a cancer-causing, radioactive gas," the EPA adds."

Trump had decades of public perception before running for office, a lot of it neutral-to-positive. Real estate "tycoon", society guy, TV personality. I was never a Trump fan, but wouldn't have found it repulsive/horrifying/disgusting to have the "Trump" label on a tie. I wouldn't have refused to stay in a hotel just because it was named "Trump" and didn't think ill of people just because they worked in Trump Tower. His public perception starting cracking when he became a birther, but when he ran for office he was originally seen as similar to other celebrities who have run and sometimes won office. Even when it started becoming apparent he was a loon, many (including myself  ) thought it was largely an act or that he'd rise to the office if he won.

DeSantis has none of that. A relatively unknown congresscritter who managed to sneak into the governor job by barely beating a Black guy with a drug issue, everything people know about him is fairly recent and a lot isn't good. His general assholiness is becoming more apparent, as is his streak of incompetence in anything not involving a Republican super-majority.

But the rest of the Republican clown car is pretty weak, too, so who knows who'll be able to pick up Trump's remains.

Interesting thing about that Central Park 5 case. It turned fast-track prosecutor Linda Fairstein into famous crime author Linda Fairstein and then later got her shunned and even dumped by her publisher in 2019. Railroading apparently sometimes has its own karma.
