Artificial intelligence and the future

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Artificial intelligence and the future

Unread post by Vrede too »

We seem to be posting about AI regularly, maybe rates it's own thread. We don't have an existing one, do we?

Reports said actor died after surgery to look Korean. Was he AI?
Media outlets around the world reported a man died after surgery to look like a K-pop star despite numerous red flags.

Web bots, ChatGPT, deep fakes, etc - Are we nearing a point where we can't trust anything?

Yes we are. It's where idiots and the uneducated hand everything over to the very few.

Not to be contentious, but the "idiots and the uneducated" have already done that. I'm more concerned when AI can dupe multiple international media outlets. If it can do that it pretty much means that I will be duped unless someone does some digging. On it's face the story was believable to me.

But as the duping becomes more successful, the need for duping drops off, leaving the un-duped minority clamoring to explain to those duped that they've been duped*.

War Pigs by Black Sabbath, but every lyric is an AI generated image

I used Midjourney to create all the images. Will shortly share the complete prompt glossary I used to create the lyrical images and environments....

As many of the commenters note, still a powerful, impressive and relevant song 53 years later.

Influencer who created AI version of herself says it's gone rogue and she's working 'around the clock' to stop it saying sexually explicit things

Opps. Gee, who would have ever guessed that a hot young online female AI would get prompted by $1 per minute subscribers into getting dirty?

Will AI make the ever more affordable and increasingly realistic robots the solution for frustrated and angry InCels?

I've seen people using AI generated head shots of themselves for business and so forth. It's nearly impossible to tell the difference between real photographs and fakes. Needless to say, if someone's pictures are on the web anyone out there can take them and generate false pictures.

Already is. There are hundreds if not thousands of deep fake celeb vids online. The quality has improved tremendously in just the past year . . . or so I've heard  . Then, non-celebs are getting the AI porn treatment. I just read about a group of high school girls that got deep faked by a male classmate.

There may be a tipping point where we can't trust anything, even BRD posts. I'm already suspicious of "O Really" and "Whack9". ;) ;)

I guess with the right definitions it's technically correct, but I don't like the term "artificial" intelligence. I'd prefer to call it something like machine intelligence. But that's just me.

I'm slipping. I may need to catch up on my porn.😉

This may explain Neo.

But it also could explain Useless if there's such a thing as artificial unintelligence .

:D Even if you're not a fan the quality of deep fake celeb vids is impressive, and perhaps informs us on the future of non-porn deep fakes.

I'm not sure that he can be faked. ;)

 Fake makes my ass drag. I'm as real as the day is long. No way is anyone gonna artificially fish slap me. They are just going to have to realize that not only was the mold broken once I came out, it was stomped into a thousand pieces. These people are just going to have to learn to stay out of my way.

A good way to spot these treacherous bastards is by catching them off guard.....like, if you're talking to one you suspect of being a fake, all of a sudden get your eyes as big as you can ( ) but otherwise keep acting normal. The fuckers won't know how to handle this and most of them will scurry off in a hurry. ok

I read a story the day after trump's CNN gig that was about what an AI trump would say to the same questions the CNN moderator asked him. The answers were remarkably similar to what the bulbous buffoon actually said. Both answers were in the article. They were basically the same. But, hell, it doesn't even take artificial intelligence or even normal intelligence to see trump is full of shit. Real shit.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman testifies before the Senate: 4 key takeaways
The ChatGPT creator and others spoke to the Senate Judiciary Committee about the future of artificial intelligence.

... The stunning speed with which artificial intelligence has advanced, in only a matter of months, has inspired Congress with a rare bipartisan zeal to keep Silicon Valley's innovations from outpacing Washington again....

'Congress failed to meet the moment on social media.'

In his opening remarks, which were partially generated by artificial intelligence, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., acknowledged Congress’s struggle to impose meaningful regulations on social media.

“Congress failed to meet the moment on social media,” he said. “Now we have an obligation to do it on AI before the threats and risks become real.” ...

'Some jobs will transition away.' ...

'This is not social media. This is different.'

... Last year, the White House released a proposed AI Bill of Rights aimed at targeting misinformation, discrimination and other forms of harm. Vice President Kamala Harris recently met with leaders in AI innovation, including Altman, at the White House.

But so far, no regulatory framework has emerged, despite the consensus that one is badly needed.
I'm not going to search for it, but I guarantee that there is Kamala Harris deep fake porn out there. :o
'Humanity has taken a backseat.'

Marcus, the NYU professor, revealed himself as the panel’s lone AI skeptic, arguing that “humanity has taken a back seat” as corporations race to develop ever more sophisticated AI models with too little regard for the potential dangers.

Altman also acknowledged that those dangers could be significant. “I think if this technology goes wrong, it can go quite wrong,” he said. It was a bracing admission from one of the technology’s most vociferous proponents — but also a welcome break from Silicon Valley’s possibly deceptive facade of optimism.

It would seem that artificial intelligence would be a great and improved replacement for whatever passes for intelligence in Montana. (sorry Vrede, no offense). They've decided to ban TikTok to keep nefarious Chinese from watching their cow videos or whatever, but have not presented any evidence that any Chinese has ever watched their cows or has any interest in doing so. Sure, technologically the Chinese probably could, but there are a lot more ways than TikTok. I wonder if the Montana geniuses know how high a percentage of Montanans use Chinese phones. With cameras! and data transmission ability! Arrrrrghhh! Or maybe go to Chinese restaurants!
