Dude's quite literally just strip mining the United States at the expense of its citizens.Donald Trump may have arranged himself a 11-figure payday after his own tax office signalled they would settle a lawsuit with him.
The US president and two of his sons have sued the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for $US10 billion ($14 billion) after his tax information was leaked to the media in 2018 and 2020.
Given the president has appointed the senior staff at the IRS and the Department of Treasury and has the power to fire them, the lawsuit has raised the ire of ethics watchdogs.
Trump had already claimed to have won the lawsuit in the days after it was filed.
"Essentially, the lawsuit's been won. I guess I won a lotta money," he said.
A former IRS contractor has already been jailed over the leak, which exposed Trump's claims of incredible business success to be in part, false.

No question Trump should be considered responsible for the recent jump in gas prices. However, history tells us gas prices can move quickly. There is time for the conflict to be resolved and prices will trend down.GoCubsGo wrote: βMon Apr 20, 2026 5:49 pmExtended multiple nutty today.

Always whining
More whiningI'm winning a War, BY A LOT, things are going very well,
Is the Strait open? Are gas prices falling?
our Military has been amazing and, if you read the Fake News, like The Failing New York Times, the absolutely horrendous and disgusting Wall Street Journal,
Owned by DonOLD campaign manager Rupert Murdoch.
or the now almost defunct, fortunately, Washington Post,
Owned by DonOLD buddy and major donor Jeff Bezos.
you would actually think we are losing the War.
No, you wouldn't, but you would know that it's been bad for the world, America and Dementia Don. Why do friends always turn on him and vice versa?

A reminder from the lifelong cowardly "bone spurs" Chickenhawk in Chief. Idiot.
... Time is not my adversary, the only thing that matters is that we finally, after 47 years, straighten out the MESS that other Presidents let happen
"the MESS" is 71 years old, since the US crushed Iranian democracy. Dozy Don fails History, again.
... (incoherent babbling)
Americans are paying a massive "tax" at the pump to benefit these oil exporters DonOLD pledged absolute fealty to during the campaign. Figures.

Well, gas prices are increased quickly. Reduced, not so much. I think further analysis shows that companies and outlets raise prices speculatively, as soon as any event is announced (Gulf closes, hurricane coming, etc., but are lowered only when necessary after the crises passes (or doesn't occur)supesalemgr2 wrote: βTue Apr 21, 2026 6:16 am[
No question Trump should be considered responsible for the recent jump in gas prices. However, history tells us gas prices can move quickly. There is time for the conflict to be resolved and prices will trend down.
In other words, the increase and decrease of gas prices at the retail level has a very sharp up curve and a very gradual down curve.
So my local station raises the price of gas because it's announced that crude oil has been increased to over $100/barrel. But it takes an average of 4 weeks for that barrel to be refined, processed, and shipped off as gasoline. So the station is raising retail on gas that has not yet increased at wholesale, and won't for a month. Then, for whatever reason, oil barrels are reduced to $85. The station can't reduce the price at this point because it's really got actual $100/barrel gas in the tank, so the prices stay up for at least a month until the station is getting cheaper gas. But everybody had high prices, and the supply chain of gas is varied. If my station is one of the first to get some cheaper gas, it's still not going to reduce the price to where it used to be - it'll maybe reduce it a few cents lower than area competition, but no more until it has to.
So yeah, Trump and his "excursion" are directly responsible for the high gas price, but even in the unlikely event he "brings peace" to the area he started a war in, prices aren't going to drop in time for anybody to forget about them by November.

I understand your wishful thinking. I do not disagree prices are slower to come down than to rise for reasons you state. This fact did not start with Trump, but he owns this increase.O Really wrote: βTue Apr 21, 2026 11:16 amWell, gas prices are increased quickly. Reduced, not so much. Yeah, that's kinda the point. It has always been that way - a fact perfectly obvious to everyone except Trump and his mouthpieces who keep claiming "the war will be over soon and when it is, prices will go down quickly."supesalemgr2 wrote: βTue Apr 21, 2026 3:16 pm

As an aside, I've always found it annoying that everybody says "gas prices went up" as if there's some mystic force. A price doesn't do anything by itself. Why don't we say "companies (or retailers) raised the price of gas"? Passive voice assigns no responsibility; active voice does.

To me, "wishful thinking" implies possible though unlikely goals. With Dementia Don and MAGA I prefer the psychology phrase "magical thinking".neoplacebo wrote: βWed Apr 22, 2026 9:30 amDo you think you can help us understand trump's wishful thinking? Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Another example is the idea that a peace deal = gas "prices will go down quickly," or even that a peace deal can quickly rectify 72 years of Iranian bitterness towards the democracy negating US.Magical thinking, or superstitious thinking, is the belief that unrelated events are causally connected despite the absence of any plausible causal link between them, particularly as a result of supernatural effects. Examples include the idea that personal thoughts can influence the external world without acting on them, or that objects must be causally connected if they resemble each other or have come into contact with each other in the past. Magical thinking is a type of fallacious thinking and is a common source of invalid causal inferences....
