Iran War

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

We're in the high fives, with a lot of places over $6 regular. Glad I'm not having to feed a diesel at $7+.
My bad, it was a $.30 jump today. :wtf:

Guess it could be worse.

Glad I'm not commuting.
Glad I have a plug in hybrid, last bought gas in Nov. I get 45 miles of battery before the gas engine kicks in.
 What make and model did you choose?

Seems like most of the gas stations around here are sitting at 3.99. I think they're trying to hold off crossing the 4/gallon threshold.

More than once over the past few weeks I've wondered how many times trump has got on the phone with Nuttyahoo and whined that things aren't turning out like Nuttyahoo told him they would. I think trump got excited with the little bombing run last year (the one in which Iran's nuclear facilities were "obiiterated") and his little invasion and kidnapping of Maduro, so he listened to Nuttyahoo tell him how easy this Iran thing would be. Opps

And as a bonus, Putin gets a big favor now that trump is mad at Germany, Italy, and Spain. It's truly incredible to me that such a petty man as trump is able to lead them around on a leash, all the while demonstrating his own incompetence over and over and over. Not to mention the favors for Russia (lifted oil sanctions, reduced US posture in NATO) and the Republican cult members just let him get away with it all.

The current bunch of Republicans in office are spineless cowards with no ethical standards whatsoever. And before Supes chimes in with "they're all like that", I'd like to point out any incident in US history where a sitting president ignored court rulings and the Congress, was openly corrupt, and members of his own part sat back as enablers. Oh wait - there isn't one.

Yeah, I noticed that. And there's never been a sitting president to plaster his name on public buildings just for the hell of it. Or tell the US mint to strike a gold coin with his likeness on the front. I read the other day that the Air Force says the "gift" plane from Qatar is nearly ready for trump to use as Aif Force One. Had this "gift" not been made, the Air Force would not have had to spend tens or hundreds of millions on modifying it. Oh, wait, that 1.5 trillion dollar Pentagon budget request will probably cover most of that unnecessary expense. I bet the paint job will cost six figures. WINNING!

$2-300,000 to repaint new livery on a plane like that. That's if you use union labor. If you don't it would be twice that, once to paint it sloppily and once to re-paint it.

This won't end well if he pays it anymore than lip service.

My guess is that 'we will guide their Ships safely out of these restricted Waterways" can't effectively be done without escorting them .

He's not going to put the Navy in harm's way for multiple reasons.
Countries from all over the World, almost all of which are not involved in the Middle Eastern dispute going on so visibly, and violently, for all to see, have asked the United States if we could help free up their Ships, which are locked up in the Strait of Hormuz, on something which they have absolutely nothing to do with — They are merely neutral and innocent bystanders! For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these Countries that we will guide their Ships safely out of these restricted Waterways, so that they can freely and ably get on with their business. Again, these are Ships from areas of the World that are not in any way involved with that which is currently taking place in the Middle East. I have told my Representatives to inform them that we will use best efforts to get their Ships and Crews safely out of the Strait. In all cases, they said they will not be returning until the area becomes safe for navigation, and everything else. This process, Project Freedom, will begin Monday morning, Middle East time. I am fully aware that my Representatives are having very positive discussions with the Country of Iran, and that these discussions could lead to something very positive for all. The Ship movement is merely meant to free up people, companies, and Countries that have done absolutely nothing wrong — They are victims of circumstance. This is a Humanitarian gesture on behalf of the United States, Middle Eastern Countries but, in particular, the Country of Iran. Many of these Ships are running low on food, and everything else necessary for largescale crews to stay on board in a healthy and sanitary manner. I think it would go a long way in showing Goodwill on behalf of all of those who have been fighting so strenuously over the last number of months. If, in any way, this Humanitarian process is interfered with, that interference will, unfortunately, have to be dealt with forcefully. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

2 days ago the Wal Mart gas station sign said $3.69 and as far as I know, TN has not suspended its tax on gas. I doubt they will since we have no state income tax. Tax on non food items is 9.5% but I don't know what the state gas tax rate is.

I hope the people asking for a suspension of gas tax will be happy to dodge more potholes and crumbly streets. Unlike some government revenue, gas tax has some pretty specific uses that are all directly of benefit to the traveling citizenry. Nose, meet knife.
