I'm all for limiting the time taken for spitting and nut scratching, but that looked a bit rushed to me. Maybe 20 seconds.

The pitcher's are trying to figure out how to weaponize it. There was still time on the clock.

Bet this'll happen.

I don’t know exactly about college, but MLBs rule is batter has to be set and ready when timer hits 8 seconds.

No discussion of opinions on it. What do you think?

Too soon to tell how MLB will react. Spring training games just started today.

Does anybody know what the average time to deliver a pitch was? How much does a 15-second limit rush them?

It's not an insignificant reduction of game time.
While it is not directly correlated, Statcast's pitch tempo tracker shows 108 pitchers have averaged at least 20 seconds per pitch with the bases empty this season -- led by Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen at 26.1 seconds between pitches.

What it's meant in the minors: When stricter pitch clock enforcement -- based on a 14-second clock with the bases empty and an 18-second clock with runners on -- began in the minors earlier this season, the results were immediate. Over the first 132 minor league games under the new rules, the average game time was 2 hours, 39 minutes. That's 20 minutes shorter than the average time of a control set of 335 games run without the clock to begin the season (2 hours, 59 minutes) and 24 minutes shorter than the average of the 2021 season (3 hours, 3 minutes average

A 15-second pitch clock? The end of the shift? What you need to know about MLB's 2023 rule changes

Also, fewer pickoffs, and bigger bases to increase stolen base attempts.

Are more hits off of rushed pitchers a bad thing?
What it's meant in the minors: During the first two months of this minor league season, in the lower levels of the minors where shifts are regulated, the batting average on balls in play by left-handed hitters rose by eight points. At Triple-A -- where shifts are not banned -- it was up only three points.
Otherwise, the article doesn't discuss what effects the changes have had on hitting and scoring.

"Chicks Dig the Long Ball"

Maybe, but the game has become feast or famine with long balls or strikeouts.

I'm ok with the idea of a faster game pace and more on field action. Let's hope it works.

Tie game. Ninth inning. Bases loaded. Full count.

Game ends on a clock violation by the hitter
Here is the view of the batter that was called out because he wasn’t looking toward the pitcher with eight seconds remaining on the timer
:headscratch: How does a tie game end on a batter being called out?
The catcher should be set as well… what a disaster
Great move by the catcher. He just has to catch the ball, doesn’t need to give any pitch clock clues to the batter.
Unrelated, but interesting:
Tweeter #1: Correct call. Owned
Tweeter #2: Lol you pay for Twitter
Tweeter #1: Yep it’s super helpful being able to save bookmarks in different folders as well as have easy access to bookmarks. Also pretty cool having thread reading view for long threads.
Tweeter #3: Only understandable and respectable response I’ve ever seen to an attempted Twitter blue roast. Cheers.
:---P No reply from Tweeter #2 x 3 hours.

Ah, thanks, I wondered why tweeters weren't questioning it. You may have even told me that before.

It's spring training, we can hardly expect you to be in mid season form.

You've gotta feel at least a little bad for Mike Trout. The best baseball player of a generation and this is all he's got to get excited about for the foreseeable future.
