Other challenges involved for anybody wanting to see the Series:
"At 5 p.m. Friday is Game 1 of the World Series between the Yankees and Dodgers in Los Angeles. At roughly the same time, the Suns and Lakers tipoff at Crypto.com Arena, there’s a USC-Rutgers football game at the Coliseum, the East LA Classic at SoFi Stadium, and major concerts at the Intuit Dome and The Kia Forum. "We’re likely to experience congestion impacts city and region wide," Laura Rubio-Cornejo from LADOT.

City officials are encouraging people to ride Metro to help with traffic. Metro is doubling the amount of shuttles for the Dodger World Series games.

"LAX is preparing for busier than usual traffic," said Mayor Bass. "LA Metro will be running extra service."

The LAPD is increasing patrol for safety while also adding 100 traffic officers to help with flow near events.

"For those that choose to drive, please allow extra time, follow traffic instructions, remain patient," said LAPD Interim Chief Dominic Choi.
"busier than usual traffic" she says. For reference, a couple of weeks ago it took us over two and a half hours to get past the city on the 405 (about 50ish miles) on a garden variety Thursday afternoon with no World Series, etc.

Methinks I would sit on my fat ass with the big screen and the fridge nearby.....but if I had tickets to a Wrigley World Series I'd brave whatever it took.

So you ante up $3k for a couple of decent tickets, spend your afternoon in traffic getting to the stadium and forking over $100 for parking. During the game, you spring for a few $15 beers and a couple of $8 "Dodger Dogs". But it's been a long day and now in the 10th the hated Yanks score and the Dodgers are down two outs. "Shit, Honey, let's get on out to the car - buncha bums blew it". So you're almost to your car and the stadium goes amuck. WTF? Yeah, you blew it. Spend all that money and effort to hopefully be at a historical "moment" and you miss a walk-off grand slam. Hopefully the decision to leave early was mutual or somebody is sleeping in the dog's bed tonight.

As an aside, I saw that one of the Dodger batters got his bat broken…twice!

Why don’t MLB players use aluminum bats like they do in college?

 Child abuse. Son was 16 or younger when this episode was aired. Do you think someone told him?
The Reason Why Aluminum Bats Aren't Allowed in MLB

... They're Just Too Good

Aluminum bats offer unparalleled speed and power to players, allowing them to generate far greater velocity when hitting a ball than a wooden bat. However, for professional players at the Major League Baseball (MLB) level, this velocity can be dangerous for both players on the field and those sitting in the stands. Due to these safety concerns, MLB has chosen not to use aluminum bats in their official competitive games. Instead, opt for the more traditional wooden sticks with slower and less power output.

... This ban also includes players who attempt to enhance their own “bat-exit speed” by breaking in completely new bats in unorthodox ways, such as rolling it over with a car or other methods not recommended by suppliers....

Outside Of Pro Play

... New Mexico and the New York City Council have also banned aluminum bats for high school....

Thank you for that explanation. I had no idea!

Still, maybe it would be fun to use aluminum bats for the home run contest. See how far they can hit ‘em!

All that, and aluminum bats are an aberration of nature and probably invented by some devil somewhere.

At about 2:45 below, imagine that "crack!" to be a "ping" - not quite the same.

:D Yeah, I was going to answer Jasmine with "Tradition?" but looked it up, instead.

Are wood bats more environmentally sustainable?

I suspect that we would have gotten used to "ping", as they have at the college level, if it weren't for the real danger to fans and players posed by pros wielding aluminum bats.

Plus "corking" an aluminum bat would be much harder to determine. They are charged with nitrogen or other mixtures and some are illegal.

So, an aluminum bat can be made even MORE dangerous than factory specs? :problem:

Oh yeah, certain models are banned from recreational softball for being too supercharged.

"getting used to" isn't the same as liking, accepting, agreeing with, approving, or not thinking the ones responsible should be at least sacked if not locked in stocks in the public square and beaten three times daily with an aluminum bat.
